Losing a job is a very frustrating event, especially for a man when probably the family is solely dependant on him. If it happens to your man, it’s a wise idea to be a very firm pillar of strength to your man. 

Even though you are traumatized together, it’s essential to have a check of your emotion at this moment. Below are things you are not supposed to say to your man after he is laid off. 

“You saw this coming?”

Don’t question the previous event before he was laid off. Probably he is fighting the normal emotions of anger, sorrow, regrets, and denial. He needs your comfort, your warmth and a peaceful house to be able to get over this emotions. He expects you to understand him better without questioning. 

Questioning may translate to blame game and pointing fingers, probably leading you to ask him why didn’t he works, out a better plan before it happened. Moreso it’s of no help at the moment.

Its okay to help where you can, though not taking over his duties. He is just frustrated at the moment, which is okay for a human being to repel unexpected change.

At this point, your man may not take your ideas kindly, because he is in a battle with himself. Don’t rush to ask how many interview he got in mind. If he chooses to open up his next move, keep calm and listen to his ideas, talk less and let his soul be free to tell you his next step. 

If you got an idea of an interview suggests it to him with utmost wisdom, he doesn’t want to feel controlled in this scaring situation. You don’t have to put pressure on your ideas. He is not helpless; he is just traumatized. If he opts not to attend your suggested interview, take it kindly, encourage him to keep looking for a better opportunity.

Whatever happened for him to be laid off is best understood in his former workplace and his mind. Even though he might feel unfairly laid off, his heart knows best what caused it and what is the best way out.

Your man doesn’t need negative energy. He needs to let go the situation without you helping in resenting about his former employer. Probably you might find he hasn’t grudged the employer. Men tend to let go and pick up their pieces faster.
