In Africa, the big five family consists of the elephant, the lion, the leopard, the buffalo and the rhino. This product seeks to give every tourist a chance to view these animals and also participate in saving them. The safari will be hosted in Kenya, a country in the East African region. The rhino and the elephant are at risk of being hunted by poachers and this product helps to do away with poaching as well. This product has been engineered for those two main reasons.
The safari takes twelve days. Since it is a journey intended to improve the environment, it also seeks to conserve it. The twelve day safari will therefore be a challenge for both the tourists and the company. The safari will therefore seek to challenge tourists by stretching them to their best behavior in terms of conserving the environment, give them a good time as they visit the three destinations and help them participate in a noble course.
Day one is mainly arrival and preparation of the camp site at Maasai Mara Game Park. The Camp site is known as Mara Porini. It has excellent services and borders the Game Park. Day two to day five will include visiting the Maasai Mara and watching the big five animals. The Maasai Mara is a favorite because it hosts all the big five. It also has many other animals including zebras, cheetahs, giraffes and wildebeests (Akama 567).
On the evening of day five, the tourists will be transferred to their second destination. The Ol Pejeta Game reserve is a tourist destination located at Laikipia County in kenya’s Rift Valley that overlooks the Mt. Kenya. The Ol Pejeta is also famous for hosting the Big five. The camp will be set at the Lion Porini Camp at Ol Pejeta. The last six days will involve visiting every part of the Ol Pejeta and learning about the Big five.
Environment Conservation
The environment has become the main agenda in the world. If people don’t conserve the environment, there is going to be a lot of problems for the future generations. The Save the Big Five Safari will ensure that the environment is conserved to the maximum. First, the vehicles to be used are all fuel efficient. The fuel efficient vehicles will reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses to the environment. Second, the fourth and the eighth days will be reserved for the environment conservation. Every activity in the day will be intended to environment conscious. Indeed, these two days will be reserved for expeditions. The company will provide the tourists with advice, back-up and security but the use of vehicles will be put at a minimum (Akama 570).
Saving the big Five
The big five animals are at risk of being poached at both tourist destinations. To lower the risk of these animals being poached, 20 percent of all funds paid on this safari will be put aside for protection of the big five. The company intends to make arrangements with the government to make tracking devices for the entire population of the big five animals. The company will also fund the observation of these trackers to know when these animals are in danger and offer satellite surveillance of these animals to determine exactly what the trouble is. This way, poaching will be left at a lower minimum (Akama, Maingi and Camargo 7).
The last day of the drive will also be used for sensitizing the communities about the importance of their wild animals and why they should be involved in the fight against poaching. The tourists will also interact with the local people to learn their cultures so as to complete the equation of a great safari in Kenya (Sindiyo, Pertet and others 67).
Costs
The safari will require one small bus for every 15 clients. This will be environmental friendly for the customers while at the same time ensuring that the clients are comfortable. A good bus will cost about US$23000. This will be inclusive of all taxes ad no shipping will be required. The charges for fuel will be approximately US$1000 for each of these journeys per day. The company intends to make a profit of about US$2000 but this will be dependent on the number of customers who will be toured on each trip (Kieti and Akama 78).
Charges
The five day safari will cost US$10,000 per person. Most of these funds will be diverted to protection of the big five. All the rest will be put aside as either profits or for maintaining a comfortable stay for tourists during the safari. Tourists who intend to see exactly where their money is invested as shown above will have a chance to do so. They will also be notified about the progress of their project at least once a month. This way, consumers will be happy to be part of this project.
In conclusion, this is a product that requires the attention of every human being. The environment is currently threatened. Governments can no longer manage their wild life. With this in mind, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect these natural resources. This product seeks to do just this. It will protect the Big Five, conserve the environment and give the tourist a good time.
