The dictionary description of a hero is a person, who is accepted or admired for their bravery, brilliant achievements, or distinguished qualities. I would define a hero as person who has done something great and admirable for the society to live for and emulate for a long time. We can also refer in history to that person. The phrase integrity perfectly fits in the heroism topic since an actual hero must show honesty and truthfulness in their acts. Any other character rather than integrity depicts a fictitious hero who has no place in the heroism framework. As the definition of a hero goes regarding an admirable, brave along with other distinguishing characteristics, integrity is linked to each of these characteristics
Currently, dissimilar cultures in the planet point to separate personalities of heroes leading to the surfacing of numerous and endless definitions. I find that some cultures identify the persons who perform negative deeds as heroes, others who I would call fictitious heroes emerge in societies take advantage of situations and the society names them heroes. In contemporary movies, the hero is frequently simply a regular individual in extraordinary situations, who, in spite of the odds stacked against them, characteristically triumphs at the end. In some movies, a hero might display characteristics for instance superhuman power and stamina to the position of their are almost invincible. These are some of the non-existent heroic characteristics that the modern world perceives heroes (Schwarzkopf, and Petre 32).
One group of genuine heroes is known as nation builders. These persons have driven their nations to sovereignty and promoted nonviolent headship in their nations. Amongst these most distinguished persons would comprise Simon Bolivar who steered Latin America’s struggle for sovereignty from the imperial Spain. In addition, Mahtma Gandhi steered India to achieving self-rule. Likewise, Lech Wasea drove Poland towards an egalitarian state by his authority as the trade union head. Richard Byrd toured both the Antarctic and Arctic circles, and this is considered as among the most impressive attainments. These people portray the characteristics of genuine heroes. They attained quantifiable attainments in their regions or countries. These leaders form some of the most honest persons known in history. Through integrity they made milestone achievements which are identifiable and every person now and in future will learn from their deeds (Lowrey 42).
From the literature, that I have read I have discovered many heroes exist in our society. For instance, I read a story about sister Mother Theresa; this is a woman who went out of her way to greatly help the poor in her country and beyond. She owned more than the characteristics that defines a hero. Thus, heroes’ do exist in our society since we also have heads of states who have transformed their nations path of violence making them democratic states. These leaders have portrayed lots of integrity in their missions.
However, I have additionally read literature that and noticed that the phrase hero has come very far into general usage and it has lost a lot of its validity since it no longer solely is used for persons who really take part in heroic acts. Heroes may be defined by present events, imaginary references, and martial policies. However, a hero should be described as an individual who goes beyond their responsibilities to assist others, regularly at danger to their own security. A hero should also one who makes landmark achievements for the society. This description should also mean that many present usages of the phrase are wrong and must be reexamined. Victims are never heroes; the persons that save the victims from danger to are heroes.
In the “Hard Rock Returns to Prison from the Hospital for the Criminal Insane”, his inmate friends identify Hard Rock as a hero. This is because he is a rebel, their recall when he once smacked a prison guard using his food tray. Secondly, he once bit the mythical jewel, which ultimately made him sick. In order for Hard Rock to become a “hero” he had to perform various odd deeds which were unsophisticated. This is the misuse of the phrase hero I am referring to; by performing some odd actions in order to gain, recognition from a handful of individuals never makes a hero. Hard Rock was never a hero but just an ordinary, brutal and unsophisticated individual (Knight 195).
In the “Bodega Dreams” Bodega is regarded a hero since he dreams about turning Puerto Rico into a social success along with building them homes. I consider Bodega to be a hero according to the narrative, this is an individual who is determined to transform his people future without any self interest. He leaves a mark that is to be remembered, whether he achieved it or not is not an issue. He was determined to attain his course (Quiñonez 178).
I have met many people in my life. These people have helped each other and me throughout our lives up to now. However, according to the definition of a hero many do not fit to the description, only two do. The explanation why I have the two heroes is for the reason that these two individuals have had each other’s backs and in absence of one then they would not heroes. The two heroes are my father and my mother. It is impossible to state which one has more qualities that are heroic. Sometimes back, my mother got very sick. It was an devastating period for the whole family. It was intensely hurtful seeing my mother anguishing in pain and the thought that I could do nothing. However, seeing my father giving her the support she required cheered me and it provided my mum power and courage which I started to observe in her. Those are just some of the illustrations that make me consider my parents my heroes and heroes to each other. I suppose every individual has their own definition of a hero according to the events they have gone through in life. However, I maintain that a hero is a person who has done something quantifiable and something we can learn from. I would additionally state that my two heroes reveal a lot of integrity in their heroic deeds (In Rosenberg, and In Coogan 12).
The
world’s everlasting desire for heroes has resulted to making of self-proclaimed
heroes. I acknowledge the actual heroes, and the society must defend their
achievements by ignoring the imposters. The
excessive use of the word destabilizes the accomplishments of actual heroes and
the admiration of being brave is weakened. A hero by classification is a
day-by-day individual who acts further than their duty to assist or save
others, frequently sacrificing himself or herself in the process. Most importantly,
when the society is naming heroes it must ensure that that individual shows
integrity.
