Office Art Memo

The port at Argentaul is one painting that was regarded as a form of impressionist form of art (Welton, 1993). This art is mainly drawn in an external environment. This was a departure from the traditionalist view where art was mainly done in studios. The art depicted boating activity on the Seine River, which is located in Argentauil. The external activity is further coupled with the summer’s late afternoon breeze. The clear blue sky and the long shadows further enhance the summer.

This painting could be used in the sales office. The sales office performs well during the summer. For this reason, it complements this aspect of the sale department. The scene is also mind clearing and therefore a possible source of enlightenment and motivation at the department. With this information, it is likely that obtaining this art will be a reasonable step in the company.

The Ballet scene from Meyabeer’s Opera by Edgar Degas was created in 1876 (Welton, 1993). Unlike a majority of other impressionists, Degas’ work is a depiction of an indoor activity rather than nature. The painting also shows an extension of life outside of the image. Rather than show an end to what is included in the art, it depicts some of the persons in the image being presented only in part and the rest of their bodies outside. His lighting is mainly artificial unlike the plain air natural lighting that is commonly comes with impressionism. It depicts a musician before his audience with a lot of light being directed on the musicians. This is natural lighting. The short strokes are the giveaway of the method the impressionism in this case.

This art can be placed in the reception section of the company. The artificial lighting becomes the central theme of this painting. As this section of the company provides information towards the rest of the company, so does the lighting in the painting.

The Bridge of Europe by Gustave Caillebotte was released in 1876 (Brodskai︠a︡, 2010). The painting depicts three individuals, and a dog. As the laborer is looking down the bridge, two individuals from the high level of the society are walking beside him. This image could be a depiction of diversity that must always be incorporated in the company system. The company system is always intent to be inclusive of everyone. While the laborer is a low class individual, however, the portrait should serve to create a need to depart from the lower class to the high class. Maintaining diversity is also an important measure. This picture can be located in the in the human resource department as it is mainly a source of enlightenment for the human resource department. The piece of art belongs to the impressionist category for a number of reasons. First, it has an external setting. Second, this setting serves to reduce the need for lighting or for artificial lighting.

Post impressionist art

Impressionist forms of art were mainly used in the later part of the 19^th century and the early years of the latter. They differ from the impressional school of thought in that they were often not as realistic in nature. Post impressionists opted to be imaginative and to create new forms of art from their mind rather than through their impressional counterparts.

Gauguin was released in 1888. It depicts the depiction of Jacob with an angel (Bessonova & Williams, 1986). It is a depiction of humanity’s search of religious meaning.  This article also shows the superiority of British and French religious system and found it wanting.

While religion is a bit farfetched in a business scenario, the company has traditionally identified itself with Christian values. The use of this art will offer a perfect opportunity of sharing this belief. This painting could be located in the office of the CEO as he is the biggest believer of Christianity and has always attempted to promote this belief.

Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte is a depiction of people from all walks of life spending their rest day in a park. In this case, the painting is mainly a depiction of sin. Notably, almost everyone is under a shadow (Bailey & Rishel, 1989). This shadow represents sin. It mirrors the saying man is to error. Regardless of the sin that weighs against them, the majority of people in this painting are in a shadow. This is a depiction of their sins. One exception is the girl in the middle of the painting who is not shadowed. She looks directly in the camera. She could be the one person questioning the future of these people. This is one painting that could be used to enhance the culture of forgiveness in the organization. It could be located in the counseling office.

evening breeze by Edmond Cross is a push of the laborers for better rights. It was common for post-impressionists to pursue the rights of the oppressed (Bolton, 2003). In this article, working peasants are depicted. Resources do not seem equally hence the need for action. This painting could be placed in full view by customers. By exposing it to customers, customers will understand that the company values it employees and will do anything to protect them.

In conclusion, artworks from the impressionist and the post-impressionist era cans be used effectively in the company to pass various messages. Such messages include culture, religion and company principles. If the above are used in combination various issues may be easier to deal with. The effectiveness of these arts would also be improved if they were positioned strategically.
