The radio overtime has become the hallmark of mass media communication and entertainment. The radio throughout the globe has earned itself a lot of popularity owing to the various advantages it possesses over other forms of mass media communication these include its easy accessibility, cheap to purchase, it is portable and it has a good reception even in remote parts of the earth’s surface.  Furthermore radio is mostly preferred due to their capability to play trendy and favorite music along with catchy debates all through the day.

Being a person who loves listening to music from even from an early age I developed attention towards the radio and even owned one. Thus, I overtime have listened to many stations and have come to like one of them (Bloomfield, Motl, and Barr 12). This station extends almost ninety-five percent of favorite elements I look for in a radio station. Firstly, its production quality amazes me boosted by its outstanding format clock.  The production team ensures that their deliverance is “Big, super slick, brash, exciting” and that is how the station’s air production is defined. They reiterate the station’s dominance through a big voiceover which demarcates their presence on air in addition to their exceptional access to various artists (Hanson 21). I particularly like the way they call up artists now and then to get their views with regards to music or social stuff. I have had numerous opportunities of listening live on air to my favorite artists.

The stations play list is exceptionally placed, the program directors usually possess first hand information regarding the songs which are to be produced and then get their hands on the records before any other station.  This makes us as the fans diehard listeners sticking to the radio’s channel and keeps listening to it as the day rolls over. Additionally, its production music is aggressive and cooler than the playlist. The station states that its rules regarding music is that production music genre must be hotter as compared to the playlist (Bloomfield, Motl, and Barr 26).  The presenters language is unique to the station, they take pride of the station along with the exclusive language culture, for instance, a presenter says “yoh gotta see it” rather than  “you have got to see it” like other radio stations’ presenters say. The station’s production techniques are admirable for instance, they usually lift the production techniques from the music they play, e.g. they utilize chopped up beats in production. This ensures that the music is matched with the style.

The most favorite element about the station is their DJ’s due to the mixes they extend to the listeners. The catchy and striking music mixes and unique DJ sounds makes me listen to that station solely (Hanson 35). The station’s DJ’s create a constant and uninterruptable music flow: they mix dissimilar songs making the music sound as if it is a single record. The radio station programmers are excellent at music rotation. This station extends an incomparable tendency of playing fashionable records frequently throughout the day entertaining and making the audience glued to the station. This is attained articulately in order to avoid boring the listeners, the producers are actual experts.  The station possesses a propensity of playing trendy songs sourced from current and trendy mass media charts and online ratings. They also alternate the trendy songs, recurrent and previous but trendy hits.  

The station additionally conducts regular promotions in order to thank their listeners and entertain them (Bloomfield, Motl, and Barr 18). This happens through various live competitions whereby the audience are awarded raffle tickets and end up winning prizes ranging from t-shirts labeled with the station’s logo, a trip to the station, hi-fi radios and so on. One of my close friends and a listener actually won a trip to the station’s broadcasting house for a live interaction: it was an exciting moment.  The promotions carried out by the station increases listeners’ enthusiasm since very few stations give back to their listeners. Another interesting aspect regarding this station is its deep and broad news coverage ranging from local and national politics, sports and business news.  Business news being among my most favorite aspects is perfectly covered since am able to analyze the performance of the business entities in my region and the nation at large (Hanson 39). The coverage of sports is also efficient, the local and national basketball, football baseball leagues are well featured within the news.

The ever increasing online activities are making both positive and negative contributions to the music world. For instance one is able to watch a video or listen to an audio record online; this is supposed to publicize the record (Chen, Shang, and Lin 12). However on the contrary the music industry has experienced its fair share of negative impacts such as music piracy. Personally I have downloaded hundreds of songs this is because they are all available online and the people nowadays have shifted most of the activities online.  If I feel like listening to a certain music record I just download it effortlessly and this is similar to many other individuals. Thus downloading of music has replaced the physical CDs and DVDs purchasing to a huge extent (Chen, Shang, and Lin 25). Making the assumption that I have downloaded two thousand songs so far this year and that the standard cost of a CD is twenty-five dollars then the whole amount I would have spent is fifty thousand dollars. This an amount that would have gone into the artists’ income but it has not.

Sadly, I have only purchased fifteen which has been motivated by the music I have downloaded. However, this means I would have purchased more music CDs or DVDs if the music downloading aspect was inexistent but it is hard stop the internet’s prevalence.  However the conduct of persons towards downloading music is largely assisting in depriving the artists the badly needed income from sales (Chen, Shang, and Lin 20). This has prompted artists to performing numerous shows in order to recover the losses.  The musicians are currently loosing thousands of dollars in revenue due to the inclination of their fans to downloading music rather than purchasing an original CD (Chen, Shang, and Lin 40). For instance during the 90s musicians used to sell a hundred thousand copies of their music CDs, twenty-years later they only sell five thousand. The internet has in actuality robbed off the music industry its revenue.
