Acid Rain Experiment

Unit 9: Final Project: Acid Rain, Part III: During this week, you will collect all of your observations into a Microsoft Word table that is located in DocSharing. Review your original hypotheses from Week 3 and assess whether or not what you thought was going to take place actually happened, keeping in mind that your grade on this Assignment will not be based on whether or not you were correct. The following questions should also be addressed in the discussion of your findings:

  • What effect did the different water sources have on the plants?
  • What do these results suggest about the different water sources, especially your tap water and the acid rain water?
  • If you were able to obtain rain water, were the results similar to tap water or to the acid rain water?
  • What do you think these results suggest about your local rain water?
  • Do your results support your original hypotheses? If so, how? If not, create a newly revised hypothesis based on the final results of your experiment.
  • Finally, provide an overall conclusion for this experiment.

Remember that your Assignment must be written as an essay and must be formatted as per APA-formatting guidelines.

Alternative Assignment: Acid Rain: As an alternative to the acid rain experiment described above, you may submit the following Assignment

During units 6-8, you should have continued your research on acid rain in your area. Conduct additional research to determine if acid rain has been documented in your area. You must utilize and cite at least three separate resources in your research. Contact local government officials and your local health department to determine if they are aware of acid rain in your region. Investigate whether there are there are any manufacturing plants in the area, or upwind of your region that could potentially contribute to acid rain. At the end of Unit 9, submit a final report of your findings. You should describe in this report the effects of acid rain on the environment and summarize what you have found in your research. Examine your original hypothesis from Unit 3. Do the results of your investigation support this hypothesis? If so, how? If not, create a redesigned hypothesis to better match the final results of your investigation. Your essay should end with a concluding paragraph.

Your essay should be a minimum of 1,000 words not including a cover page and reference list.
