Nowadays, globalization helps to easily trade goods all around the world. Moreover, global cooperation helps consumers to easily buy domestic and foreign foods, so food should be checked carefully before reaching end-users. Two of the main benefits of food safety are pressure on the Canadian government to take responsibility for food hygiene, and the strict management of imported food from abroad. There are many ways that germs can enter our body. Especially, that is from our mouth via food every day. Contaminated food is caused by chemical agents in agriculture or industry or unsuitable conditions through transportation of processed food. Wong, J. (2016) found that “ Forty percent of 4 million Canadian will be hospitalized ( 11, 600 people) and die (238 people) because of foodborne illness”.

Furthermore, major causes of foodborne and diarrheal illness why is E. Coli, Listeria Monocytogenes, Shingella bacteria, Salmonella bacteria and Salmonella. According to Jones (2016) “The CFIA also informs the public about food contamination recalls. For example, between September 2007 and December 2007, there were recalls on domestic or imported brands of the following products (contaminant type in brackets); coriander powder (Salmonella bacteria), chopped ham (Listeria monocytogenes), lettuce salad (E. Coli O157:H7 bacteria), oysters (Vibrio bacteria), baby carrots (Shingella bacteria), white sesame seeds (Salmonella), white chocolate (Salmonella), frozen beef burgers (E. Coli), breaded shrimp (Nitrofuran drugs), organic baby cereal (rancidity), and chicken sandwiches (Listeria). Considering this is just a sampling of the recalled foods during a four-month period, it is not surprising that the Canadian government is planning a more proactive approach to the problem of contamination”.

The Canadian government, included The Canadian Food Inspection Agency, only warn, prevent diseases and educate producers and customers how to purchase and store properly about food instead of they should give heavy penalties for individuals, factories, or companies to ensure a quality of foods. In the second place, food imports are also essential in food management. The government’s action plan includes legislative amendments to the Food and Drugs Act that will result in more consistent regulatory treatment across all the food sectors. The action plan has three main goals: preventing problems regarding food imports, safety, and tampering; improving the government’s authority to verify food safety prior to importation into Canada; and generating faster and more efficient responses through improved record keeping, access controls, and modernized inspection systems. In the food transportation from abroad, bacteria can be born due to unsatisfactory preservation conditions. Also, the food products have origin from sick animals, which are not inspected stringently from abroad. For examples, from 1982 to 1989, Canada forbid the import of cows from England because of mad cow disease. In 2007, some Canadians were poisoned from frozen fish and fast food, which could be cheap foods, and did not check food safety carefully from China.

Those examples prove that additional regulation of food hygiene is important. It will help to prevent kinds of bacteria and virus. In particular, we can protect the next generation from genetic mutation, genetic disorder via policies of government to protect residents better, which will be implemented and enforced.
