Journal article critique
While discussing the effectiveness of diabetes related education, the research of the Nazar et al., (2015) conducted in the context of United Kingdom should be mentioned. The researchers conducted research to understand the prevalence of diabetes type 2 according to age and gender in UK and found that within the 90% population who are affected with diabetes type 2, are more than 60 years of age. Therefore, the health education regarding diabetes is very poor among them. Hence, it is prevailing in the society. Another research conducted by Al-Maskari et al., (2013), determined the effectiveness of knowledge and attitude of patient in controlling diabetes. The researchers found that within the sample size of 575 students, more than 31% patients had poor knowledge regarding the diabetes and 72% had negative thoughts regarding their disease condition. It determined the less effective awareness in the society regarding diabetes as people were not aware regarding their diet, attitude and preventable measures regarding the diabetes (Al-Maskari et al., 2013). Further in this study, it was also observed, people who had positive attitude and were aware regarding the facts of diabetes, was able to control it without any major issue.
Financial implications for health system
The financial implication for diabetes related education within society can be understood from the statistics of the United States. The states spent more than $245 billion dollar in the year 2012, and it is estimated to grow up to 500 billion by the end of 2020 (Zheng, He & Congdon, 2012). The higher number of unaware diabetic patients are the primary reason for the increasing diabetic severity in the states. Hence, to create a health awareness in the society, those diabetic patient should be provided with education and awareness regarding diabetes. So that the literacy level of the people can be increased (Guariguata et al., 2014).

For this purpose several research articles were reviewed to understand the effectiveness of education in patients and it was found that education related to diabetes helped them to control the diabetes and maintain a positive view regarding their disease. Further the financial implication also reported that financially health illiteracy harms a complete nation as maximum of the finance is involved in healthcare treatment.
