Nat Turner was born on October 2, 1800, in Southampton County, Virginia. In August of 1831, Nat and six other enslaved men engaged in a violent string of murders within Southampton County. Turner was taken to Jerusalem and tried on November 5th, he was quickly deemed guilty and sentenced to be hanged on Friday, November 11, 1831, twelve days after being captured.
