International Marketing Week 4 Discussion

Hello class, my chosen country is Indonesia. I have a plan of starting a manufacturing shoes firm at the heart of the country in Jakarta.  The firm will specialize mostly on producing sports shoes. Jakarta has a population of 8,540,121 which is more than majority of other regions (CIA, 2016). According to the age demographics of the region, the cohort with the highest per cent is 25 to 64 years. This will be my target population. The reason why am choosing this as my target population is because they forms the biggest per cent in the country of 42.35% which is almost half of the total population. Obesity and overweight are on increase in Indonesia creating an enormous public health threat. The reason why I am choosing this group is because majorities are all busy and exercising less. The public health threat has led to many campaigns of exercising to the overweight and obese individuals. I will work along the campaign and will use the idea in my marketing strategy.

Hello Jennifer. I like the type of shoe you have chosen which is athletic shoes. You have chosen women as your exclusive target market. I agree with you that women at their 30s and 40s have a lot of disposal time. Athletes’ shoes are very popular during exercises like jogging. You have exclusively chosen women as your target population. This will make you to customize the shoes as to your gender preferances. Many manufacturing firms are not producing feminine sports shoes and your firm will fill the gap. How will you market your products?

Hello Kasey. I like your chosen demographic. You have chosen one with majority of the population at 40.74%. Your reason for choosing the cohort is also valid. Majority of individuals in this group are working and have some extra coins to spend on your products. Your chosen target markets will be good for the ideal business. Shoes industry is important as majority of people will use your product one day in their lifetime. How will you beat your competitors in the field?
