Ways in Which the Society Deals with Inequality

The responsibility of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is to enforce Federal Laws that make the discrimination of an employee or job applicant illegal due to their color, race, religion, race, age, national origin, genetic information or disability. The EEOC states that it is illegal to discriminate a person because the individual had filed a charge, complained about discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination lawsuit or investigation. The EEOC laws cover most labor unions, employers with at least 15employees and employment agencies. The EEOC investigates discrimination charges against the businesses covered by the law.

This site allows employees to file charges (Charge of Discrimination) if they believe they have been discriminated against in their work place. An agency, organization or an individual can file a charge on behalf of a second person as a way of protecting the grieved person’s identity. Before an individual files a Charge of Discrimination, EEOC demands them to first file a job discrimination lawsuit against their employer. According to EEOC laws,  someone can file a complaint in case of any of the following types of discrimination; age, disability, sex, sexual harassment, religion, retaliation, race/color, harassment, national origin, pregnancy, equal compensation, disability and genetic formation. 

Having this site accessible online to everyone is a good thing. This is because it will allow employees, employers and federal agencies to know their rights in case of discrimination. It provides laws and guidance which will be useful while placing a complaint. It will also assist in the reduction of discrimination cases as it will create awareness to the employers against discrimination as it is a way of an outreach program. Through this website, an individual learns the process of filing a Charge of Discrimination.

In case a situation of discrimination arose, this site or a similar one will be useful. This is because, it explains the rights and the types of discrimination on which to file a Charge of Discrimination, gives the laws and guidance in doing so, and gives contacts that will assist in answering any pending issue concerning the complaint. According to the EEOC site the Federal Laws are the laws that prohibit workplace discrimination. These laws are passed by the congress, signed by the president and the EEOC enforces them. The federal workplace discrimination laws which are voted by the commission are implemented by regulations of EEOC organization.
