Thesis Statement:  The theme for the novel would be money brings happiness. With money, one can by expansive things, like clothes, cars, and mansions. They won’t have to worry about whether they will have a meal to eat the next day. But in the end, it all doesn’t matter, their social class or how much money they make, because it can all be taken away.

1. When Gatsby reunited with Daisy, the green light foreshadows him having a chance with Daisy, but when the green light fades away, that shows that they will never be together. 
2. Although Tom cheated on Daisy with Myrtle and was ready to remarry to her. He didn’t want to, he kept trying to find an excuse of why he still never divorced Daisy.

1. Only the hardworking people were aware of the events that were headed for them. “A bull in the market caused prices to soar, but few are aware of the doom it portends,” (Allan).
2. Once the wall started to collapse, people weren’t (hopefully) still thinking about wealth, all their emotions then turned into fear.  “Then Wall Street collapses and drowns out the roar, and panic begins where prosperity ends,” (Allan).

1. Gatsby was so determined to be rich, so when he finally achieved that goal, he had all that money, but no happiness.

1. The only thing that the people in the Roaring 20s cared about was making money, and having expansive things. What they didn’t realize was that it was all going to be taken away by the crash. 
2. The people who only wanted to be rich was blind to the events that was going to happen, but the people who didn’t care was prepared. It was all going to vanish anyways.
