Reflection Précis # 1: You Have Come a Long Way, Baby

The article talks about how women have remained the discriminated gender despite the
fact that they have shown their improvements over the decades. According to doctrine of
shepherd, women were limited to only domestic work while men are given all the freedom to do
other extra duties outside their homes. Those working women are restricted to certain jobs, paid
less and denied other working benefits like sick leave enjoyed by their male counterparts.
Women are being denied education, or given less attention by teachers when they undertake
male “claimed” professions and thus left for the low level professions. We have seen that women
are also denied all the information concerning their health for instant they are given secondary
consideration in treatment of server diseases. They are also seen as less human beings “person”
as compared to a male gender.
According to the article, I believe that women should not be restricted when it comes
employment for they can do even better than men even in men dominated jobs (for example,
engineering and medical courses). They should also enjoy equal benefits for instant sick leave
and be paid the same as their male counterparts whom they have the same qualifications i.e.
women should be given maternity leaves the same way men are given sick leave when they
undergo circumcision.

I also agree that men according to nature are superior in many ways but I don’t support
the fact that women should be discriminated when it comes to health issues. This is because they
are both human beings and they suffer the same when it comes to diseases. Hence a correct, clear
and complete information should be given to both genders equally.
The most interesting thing is that women are denied crucial information concerning risk
factors, lifestyle changes, and attentive care when it comes to heart and other diseases thus
leading higher death rate compared to men as per the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services. Despite the fact that men are considered more superior than women, when it comes to
the issue of health they should be addressed without discrimination. This is because both are
venerable to all diseases equally, in fact when it comes to cancer, women due to their creation
nature are more exposed to the disease than men. They are the ones who suffer cervical and
uterus cancer.
