Men and boys are often the victims of brutal indoctrination during their recruitment in
armed groups. This can involve killings drug abuse and rape incidences, and males commonly
have lost their traditional male role as providers for the family. They may have fun themselves
displaced from their families home for unable to find employment. Some have found sexual
violence and possession and use of weapons. Post-conflict programs should focus on ways to
draw young men into a cohesive society, rather than on punishing and controlling them.
The African American male theory (AAMT) has been developed to analyze the lives of
African American boys and men. The theoretical framework can be used to articulate the
structure and position of African American children and men in the society by drawing on and
accounting for pre and post enslavement experiences. We hope to provide an opportunity for
AAMT to take root in the academy and communities where institutions and programs intersect
with the lives of the black males both boys and men.
The AAMT is a theoretical framework that can be used to articulate the position and
trajectory of African American children and men in the society by drawing on and including the
experiences while capturing their spiritual, social, psychological and educational development. It
is a multi-disciplinary approach to theorize African American boys and men experiences.

AAMT and any disciplinary approach to theorizing about the experiences of African
American boys and men. It is a theoretical framework that can e used to articulate a position and
trajectory of African American boys and men in the society. AAMT is a multi-disciplinary.
The six tenants of AAMT are: the individual and collective experiences, behaviors,
outcomes and trajectory of African-American Boys and men are best analyzed and ecological
system approach.
Building upon the ancient and current African world word view as well as
Bronfenbrennrenner’s work, AAMT suggests that Africans American Boys and Men exist I a
symbiotic and bidirectional relationship with other beings, matter, and phenomena. AAMT
provides the conceptual framework to describe and analyze the interrelated structures, systems
and trajectory of African American boys and men. The environment factors affecting the African
American boys and men are numerous and vastly differentiated and multidisciplinary approach
becomes necessary AAMT.
Bronfenbrenner’s model of the interconnected environmental systems includes the
Microsystems, sesosystem, and Chrono system. The microsystem captures the individual’s own
biology, personality, beliefs, and perceptions about familial, home and school environments. The
ecosystem makes the system links between the links the environments and Microsystems.
Ecosystems are external environmental settings and community factors that affect an individual
even if that person is not a direct participant.
There is something unique about being, male and African descent. Whether it stems from
the nature or other areas, there is something unique about being male and of African ancestry.
AAMT affirms the uniqueness of other populations and groups and is interested in what makes

African Americans males similar to other communities in this community as a group with the
understanding individual distinctions within the group. AAMT is specifically concerned with
examining and discovering what is distinctive Distinctions are necessary across areas and
disciplines to create programs and curricula in education to focus on specific medical and
psychological treatment in biological and psychological research.
African American boys and men are resilient and resistant. AAMT posits that African
American children and men are born with an innate desire for self-determination and an
unlimited capacity for morality and intelligence. The African American Male theory embraces
resilience and with an unlimited capacity for morality opposes the deficit paradigms and
practices. From this point of view, it is apparent that the social and educational challenges facing
the group of stem constructed systems rather than any innate biological or cultural deficiencies.
The resilience theory meshes well with African American Male theory as the ecologists
first introduced it in a973 in the United States. They incorporated aspects of system theory and
ecological theory in his work .the method is much concerned with the resilience theory and
addresses the ability and powers that people exhibit to rise above adversity. The AAMT is
particularly interested in the discovering of resiliency present in the inner Microsystems such as
a family, home, extended family and peer groups. The subsystems are concerned with the spirit,
the collective will and supernatural and mesosystem that is more concerned with the interactions
between the subsystems inner and outer microsystem. AAMT considers all forms of resistance
and opposition demonstrated be African American boys and men as a strength though some
manifestations may be counterproductive to what is viewed as a success. In addition, the AAMT
connects resistance with resiliency and focuses on ways in which the African American boys and

me reject White mainstream cultural hegemony and oppression. AAMT does not completely
align with leading resistance or cultural power and oppression.
There are continuity and continuation of African Culture, the consciousness and biology
that influence the experience of African American boys and men. AAMT asserts that the study of
African American men and boys must be anchored in Africa because African culture and
consciousness persistently impact African American children and men. The study these links
require multi-disciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches as the implications of these
connections permeate the social sciences and humanities. The research of African American
boys and men that do not take into account for the impact of Africa in America runs a significant
risk of producing incomplete and faculty results.
Race and racism coupled with classism and sexism have a profound effect on every
aspect of the lives of African American boys and men, AAMT is particularly interested in how
the racism affects the lives of African American boys and men. Moreover, AAMT sees racism as
an omnipresent force and factor in the society, It is particularly interested in how racism impacts
the lives of the African American boys and men in some spaces and thereby seeks to be in
dialogue with perspectives.
Finally, the focus of study and programs concerning African American boys and men
should be the pursuit of social justice. The intent of AAMT is to undermine oppression by
explicitly investigating, exposing and correcting those practices, policies and concepts that
promote its continuation. AAMT is not a reactionary theory, Its aim in not necessarily to respond
to cultural hegemony and racism but rather to account for its AAMT works to draw upon the
historical; and current culture.

Interviews. Martin Luther King became the predominant leader in the Civil rights of
racial segregation and discrimination during the 1950s and 60s.he had eloquence as a speaker
and also a personal charisma that enabled him to establish a rooted determination to equality
among all races .He was born in Atlanta Georgia. As he was growing up very few black people
could afford automobiles he became the subject of segregation. The personal abuse and arrest
made explicit the risks that he could undergo in the work with the movement for civil rights. In a
rally in 1963, he delivered the “I have a dream” speech. The statement called not only for the
rights of the black people but also for all the people in general. His impassioned drive for
equality led to his Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.He donated the award money to the furtherance of
civil rights. In 1968, he was assassinated.
The Trayvon Martin and Ferguson case, Treyvon was a seventeen-year-old who wasn’t
doing anything wrong and was being followed, due to this reason he made bad decisions. He
attacked an armed man, and this led him to being shot. Another case is that of Michael brown.
He robbed a convenience store and assaulted a police officer. This resulted in his shooting .the
media helped to create awareness in the Trayvon Martin case and Michael brown shot. They
focused on these killings as racial slurs and called for racial equality. These cases showed the
lack of justice in the system
The black Americans are about thirteen percent of the population in America and
continue to be responsible for inordinate numbers of crimes. The black arrest for offenses is
higher than that of white Americans. Black Americans are grouped as more likely to commit
crimes and liable to end up in conflicts with police officers.

Does it still exist to you? Racial discrimination still exists in the society. It is still a
common social problem in the United States .the African American boys and men are in a state
of crisis. This is because they do not have the same opportunity as their white counterparts across
the country. The African American men and boys at almost every juncture of their lives face
these social vices. The infant mortality rate of African American children is high, and the men
are less likely to be employed as their peers.
Black people are associated with the lowest earning jobs on the ladder. They also face the
highest level of racial residential segregation in the world shunting into neglected neighborhoods
the disparities in health care are so great, and the African American’s infant mortality rate is so
high in the United States. The schools are segregated today than they were in the 1960s
Certain measures should be taken to ensure that Racial discrimination is a thing of the
past. The attitudes towards racial discrimination should be changed and should start with an
individual though the law stipulates guidelines on this matter. The end of racial discrimination
would ensure that people live in a society that upholds values and its dignity.
Affirmative action in the United States is a step that has been taken to end the racial
discrimination. Under this framework, individual groups are protected. It was put to ensure that
education and jobs and policies have been set to take active measures without discrimination of
any kind and offer the same opportunities for African Americans as whites. It also includes the
provision of monitoring of compliance by establishing standards of equality among all people.
