Nuclear Weapons.

The most robust explosive devices around the world are the Nuclear weapons. These equipment team from the nuclear reactions. In many cases, they are the humanmade inventions that are the most harmful that humans have ever witnessed. There is a need to outlaw the nuclear weapons around the world, since they have adverse impacts to the society, given that they are likely to influence atomic accidents and terrorism and also drain resources (Infobase 17). Based on these effects, nations should not use nuclear weapons during the war, and using them during the Second World War against Japan was pointless.

The production and use of nuclear weapons risk the safety of the population since they promote terrorist exploitation. During the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, Obama, the ex-US President termed access to nuclear weapons by the Middle East terrorists as a threat to the national security of USA (Infobase 17). Obama suggested this since Iran was already reinforcing its nuclear weapons, which they were likely to transfer to the Hezbollah and Hamas who have a close relationship with a group of terrorists known as the Tehran (Infobase 9). Given that Iran has a culture of creating ties with terrorist associations, it is likely for them to give these nuclear weapons to the terrorists, which put many states around the world at risk.

What is more, there have been several nuclear weapon accidents since the 1950s caused by miscommunication or miscalculation of nuclear warhead deployment. For instance, there was a collision between a plane and its refueling aircraft, which caused the B-52 to release four atomic bombs. The bombs fell on the ground where it did not intend to land (Infobase 17). As a result, it caused radiation that spread within the area. It led to the death of four crew members, and clean-up of the situation amounted to a large amount of money. This incident is only one of the many accidents that have led to the loss of lives and spending a significant amount of money cleaning up the accidents.

Additionally, the nuclear weapons drain resources that a country can use in other productive sectors. For instance, the study shows that the USA spends several billion every year on investigation and production of these weapons. As a result, the government is not able to improve productive sectors such economy, health and education. This amount the USA government spends on nuclear weapons research and development equals the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations (Encyclopedia 3). Thus, if the US government could direct these spending to the Millennium Development Goals from the nuclear weapons’ production, there will be safe all over the world.

The opponents of the anti-nuclear weapon groups believe that for one to win a war, there is a need to have in position the nuclear weapons. For instance, before the 2003 Gulf War, an Indian general argued that one could not go to war with America lacking an atomic bomb. However, this claim got challenged when the allied forces had invaded Iraq without the nuclear weapons but succeeded (Infobase 3). Moreover, if America was to attack Iraq using the atomic bomb, it is likely to kill many civilians and probably influence other nations to turn their back on the USA.

Many Americans believe that to end the Second World War, the US had dropped two atomic bombs in Japan, which are Nagasaki and Hiroshima so that they could save the lives of both the Japanese and the Americans. The incidence led to the death of forty thousand people in Nagasaki and between seventy thousand and one hundred thousand in Hiroshima (Infobase 3).  But the top officials in the American military claims otherwise. According to the strategic bombing survey group of USA, provided a report that indicated that the group involved the Japanese leaders who survived. In the report the group added that Japan could have given in, regardless of whether the US dropped the atomic bombs or not, since they had not planned any invasion (Star Tribune 15). Additionally, an American military official suggested that in his thinking, the application of the nuclear weapon against Japan during the Second World War was not necessary. The Japanese have already given in since they felt defeated in the war due to the successful bombing and effective blockade of the sea.

Based on the above arguments, there is a need to outlaw nuclear weapons. If the world succeeds in banning these weapons, then many nations are likely to enhance morality and guarantee the safety of its population. As a result, the world would become a safe environment, since there will be no nuclear accidents and terrorism and also there will be no draining of resources. Furthermore, the world would get relieved from the problem of nations possessing nuclear weapons. Even though the opponents suggest that one cannot go to war with the USA without atomic weapons, these weapons have adverse effects on the civilians. Therefore, the whole world should come together to ensure the disarmament of nuclear weapons, to ensure peace safety among the population around the globe.
