Question 1

The Ognissanti Madonna painting located at the Uffizi Gallery has new spatial features explored by Giotto. To be specific, this painting is carried out by an Italian artist recognized as Giotto di Bondone and it contains traditional Christian subjects such as Christ Child and Virgin Mary as well as angels and saints surrounding them. To illustrate, the specific depiction of the Virgin is recognized as Maesta and it is always remembered as the first Renaissance painting because of its newfound naturalism and the aspect of distinguishing itself from the Gothic art constraints. On the other hand, Orgissanti Madonna is also representing Humiliati, a religious directive, hence, it is proved to represent the high altar, As a matter of fact, the above elements are essential on characterizing Giotto’s artwork.

There are several benefits accompanied by the aspect of reconstructing Duccio’s work objects. The renovation task for the work by this artist is important since it will help in maintaining the artworks carried out in between c. 1255 to c. 1319 in Italy. Based on the above statement, the act of renovating Duccio’s art will help in preserving the Old Italian painting, a thing that will, in turn, facilitate the introduction of human sentiments that can be compared to that of the Florentine canvas. Still, the reconstruction of this work will facilitate the process of incorporating and accumulation of various personal artistic scenes present in private collections and museums. The Annunciation designated by Saint Luke is among the recognized as 1400s Italian painting art containing Byzantine characteristics. To be specific, this artwork reveals some concept of both New and Old Testament through various ways such as offering a symbolic interpretation of the church. Moreover, this type of painting plays a role of offering an explanation about the dark upper story, a thing that is irradiated by the Light of the World. In the illustration, the above form of art symbolizes Trinity since revolves around the New Testament’s grace era. On the other hand, Annunciation also involves a notion of shifting from old to a new era that is clearly manifested during the change from the round-arched windows of Romanesque for the upper narrative to the early Gothic painting. In addition, Annunciation entails arts about David beheading Goliath as well as Samson destructing the temple in Philistine, hence, demonstrating the salvation of the human being through the Christ.

In consideration of political factor, the Italian Renaissance art has impacted painting in a greater manner as it seen through Papacy, the famous patron of Renaissance architecture and art. Moreover, the Black Death is accompanied by numerous social, biological, religious, political and economic upheavals that contribute to profound implication on the entire world’s history. On the other hand, Franciscans’ notion regarding nature through the founder of nature mysticism, Saint Francis of Assisi has promoted artistic work in a greater manner as it seen in Gothic arts among other religious-based paintings. Additionally, the humanism such as patronage is also recognized as an essential activity since it has led to the expansion of the artistic field to accommodate the work by Cosimo de’ Medici.
