YOU DEAR, SWEET MAN

I was amazed by how short the first chapter was. The narrator is posing questions for the reader. He is in a confused state as he is alleging that no one can see him. It happens every day. This chapter is a single paragraph full of questions. I love how the questions make the reader eager to dig into the book. The narrator is crying for help, and is asking this from an unknown character? What’s up? I read on.

“You Dear, Sweet Man” has an interesting take on advertising and how the average citizen relates to what they are fed by corporations. The story of Bobby is pretty much what most people go through. I enjoyed how natural the story flowed, and I could relate to some of the issues mentioned by the author.

The adverts in print and electronic media are sometimes too appealing to be true, but we still find ourselves swayed towards them. I loved that even when BurgerBlast, Inc. changed to FitnFast, Inc. and convinced clients that it would be selling more healthy foods, Bobby could read between the lines and see the tricks used.

This book is a great read for folks who love reading real-life stories which are fictionalized. We see a lot of commercials asking us to buy stuff or subscribe to a certain lifestyle throughout our day to day life. Thomas J. Neviaser made me see how the corporate world can sway the masses to an idea, even with a false theory.  A 4 out of 5 stars rating for the book
