· Identify the global societal issue you have chosen to research for your Final Paper, an argumentative essay, and explain why further research on this topic is important.
The issue I decide to talk about is lack of education. Education has not reached its peak due to change. Change is funny as it overwhelms people with different emotions. For instance, change can foster fear, happiness, doubt, uncertainty, acceptance, and love. Further study is required because “while nearly everyone engaged in the debate about schooling acknowledges that more resources is not a panacea (solution) the question is whether budgets can be expanded on specific items in a way that would increase the efficacy of schooling” (Pritchett, 2004, pg. 4, para. 1).
· Provide a clear and concise thesis statement that includes a solution to the global societal issue (see Writing a Thesis Statement (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.) for assistance).
Change is inevitable whether you like it or not, it will happen. It does matter if it is for the betterment of mankind or the destruction of humanity. To be better prepared we need to improve our education infrastructure around the world. The fear of change has crippled us causing our education standards to decline. The reason change needs to happen is because we have become unaware, less knowledgeable, disconnect and less than human. Making higher education available for all would have caught this dilemma sooner, provided solutions using social justice, and replace fear with compassion and the will to act. The truth high quality education is a need not a want.
· Explain how this global societal issue impacts a specific population.
Countries with deficient infrastructure are left behind or forgotten. Arditi (2004) stated, “the third salient aspect of globalization arises from the exponential increase in the pace of political, technological, economic, or cultural change. Its impact is undecidable” (pg. 3, para. 2). Meaning that the future is not written yet. We have an opportunity to change it for the better.
· Locate a peer-reviewed scholarly source and provide statistical data that you found surprising on the topic.
Arif (2016) outlines, “There are factors affecting the embodiment and development of higher education institutions. These factors can be listed as increasing population in underdeveloped and developing countries, globalization, information society, new basic technologies, increasing competition, government reforms, minimization and restructuring of the governments, etc.” (Sari 2016, pg. 327, para. 9). Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries seem to use a one-time large payment to pay for higher education which only make up about nine percent of higher learning.

· Identify the global societal issue you have chosen to research for your Final Paper, an argumentative essay, and explain why further research on this topic is important.
The issue I choose for my final, was  Religious conflict and violence as my topic. this issue, has been one of the longest persisting issues that man has faced. seemingly there has always been an mortal issue of religion and conflict. wither the religious are the victims, or are the perpetrators, it is a common occurrence that has a plethora of examples and events. although this issue is common and has gather much attention, its has yet to be solved.
· Provide a clear and concise thesis statement that includes a solution to the global societal issue (see Writing a Thesis Statement (Links to an external site.) for assistance).
The most concerning issue of today’s world is the raising religious conflicts. with large attacks from distant extremist groups to local hermits committing heinous crimes, much has been commit in the name of god while neglecting divinity. in today’s age you would be amiss to realize the raise of religious conflict in violence, since this is the age of information and new enlightenment, but with the increase of accessible knowledge also the spread of radicalism can be found. to combat this religious extremism reformation in the form of teaching the future generations to think for themselves and the value of human life stand above all as the source of solution.
· Explain how this global societal issue impacts a specific population.
Currently the list of  victims of this issue are great, but the ones that I want to focus on are young boys. Often indoctrinated when they are  younger they are brainwashed into someone else’s extremist cult. where they are convinced so that they believe they had to commit jihad to be accepted into heaven and accepted by their community. these boys are having their futures stolen and replaced with one of death and sadness. If you think about it in this perspective, we have been at war in Afghanistan for decades, we are now fighting the first generations kids or younger brothers.
· Locate a peer-reviewed scholarly source and provide statistical data that you found surprising on the topic.
during my research the article that surprised me the most with the information contained was this one.
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/02/how-should-faith-communities-halt-the-rise-in-religious-violence/ (Links to an external site.)
According to these stats, religious conflict is on the raise since 1975. to consider the large spike known to us at 911 I can see why these numbers reflect that but also considering the number of events that are associated with these numbers its surprising to know that there are more and more events of this conflict.

Popular or Scholarly, What’s the Difference?
There are several differences between popular and scholarly sources. These characteristics that distinguish popular verses scholarly source depend on; where the source was published, the inclusion of references, attributes of creditability and expertise.
Popular sources cover a variety of topics, present an overview of a subject or trend and attract general readership without any expertise or higher education (UC Santa Cruz. n.d). “Popular resources often cover topics of general interest” (Cenedejas, 2014, 0:38). For example; magazines and newspapers. According to contributor of the Scholarly and Popular Sources video Mike Cendejas (2014), popular sources are used to inform or entertain their readership (e.g., 0:45).  Scholarly sources are usually specific, focused, in-depth peer reviewed articles (UC Santa Cruz. n.d). The intent of incorporating scholarly sources is to support in-depth topics of research and further the development of scholarly conversations (University of Southern California, 2020).  Scholarly sources are published periodically and promote research as well as studies to others in the academic community (Cenedejas, 2014). Examples of scholarly sources are; peer reviewed articles and journals.
A Scholarly Source
My topic is poverty and income inequality. However, in reflection there are any impacts of inequality; poverty being one of them. Acknowledging that the inequality of income is a mere contingency and circumstance based on many things. During a study in my previous Statistics for Managers course; gender, performance, annual raises, seniority, and degree status were factors used to determine if there is a such thing as equal pay for equal work. In An Assessment of the Impact of Income Inequality on Economic Growth, contributors R. Ciegis & A. Dilius (2019), present research and methods of investigation on the impact of income inequality on economic growth. The objective is to evaluate the impact of income inequality on economic growth in different groups of states (Ciegis & Dilius, 2019).
The visual cues that validate this scholarly source is its format, structure, author credentials, page numbers, article date, introduction, conclusion and references. The research in this article is free from bias and is reliable providing methods with scientific proofs. The insights of this source exhibits strength by incorporating two different levels for its scope, both national and state levels as well as different groups. Some of its limitations are seen in its focus and precision which would create limitations on expanding the topic outside of its focus (Ciegis, & Dilius, 2019).
A Popular Source
A popular source I tend to go to when writing is Forbes. Although it is hard to tell if they are a popular or scholarly source; it seems Forbes has the strengths of both scholarly and popular sources. In the article U.S. Income Inequality is at Its Highest Level in 50 Years-But There is Some Positive News contributor Jack Kelly (2019), is unbiased accounting for both sides of the topic, is reliable implementing in-text evidence and creditable references to support ideas. In addition, this article’s strength derives from its targeted audience, where the topic is left open to stimulate further conversations directed to both the general and scholarly audiences.

Kristin’s Post:
Explain at least five differences between popular and scholarly sources used in research.
Scholarly sources: intended for an academic audience, describes a source, specific topic, written by specialists, and evaluated by peers.
Popular sources: intended for a general audience, background information, broad range of topics, written by staff, and not peer-reviewed
Locate and summarize one peer-reviewed, scholarly source from the Ashford University Library and one popular source that pertain to your Final Paper topic. In your summary of each article, comment on the following: biases, reliability, strengths, and limitations.
Peer-reviewed source:
This article discusses the importance of teachers understanding poverty and the impacts it can have on children while they are learning. Children living in poverty are not as motivated to do well in school, and this creates many problems for their future. Teachers must understand how these children cope without proper resources that would typically help them be successful in school. When teachers understand how poverty affects children, beyond the financial aspects, they will be on the right track to create lifelong learners. (Boatwright & Midcalf, 2019). This is a reliable article without biases. References are provided to back up information with several academic journals and other experts in the field.
Popular source:
This article discusses how education is a critical factor in poverty and goes into further detail about the importance of quality education. It can provide skills and abilities; it can fight inequality by addressing how women are treated and decrease risk and vulnerability. Education can be used to help end poverty by including it into how we handle emergency management situations. (Giovetti, O., 2019). I do not think this article had any biases, but it did list important poverty facts. Information may not be reliable without sources to back it up. There are no statistics or references.
From the sources you summarized, list and explain at least five visual cues from the peer-reviewed, scholarly source that were not evident in the popular source.
The peer-reviewed article was found in a journal and not a quick search on google. The authors from the peer-reviewed source are from a university and reviewed by other peers in the same field. There is a short abstract at the beginning, and it did not include ads or colorful pictures. There is a reference list at the end of the article.

Identify at least five skills you have obtained through your general education courses that will make you successful at this job.
1. Able to communicate with groups of others.
2. Teaching students to be beneficial not only for themselves but for society as well.
3. Understanding each culture has variations, such as what children learn and how they learn it.
4. Remaining logical even when the situation does not support it.
5. Able to come up with a way to provide time management for everything I do.
Demonstrate with at least two examples how your newly acquired knowledge and skills have shaped both your personal and professional development.
1. As a teacher there will come a time that a student from a different culture will be in the classroom. Understanding their culture and learning how to communicate with them is vital. Learning the knowledge and skill about identifying, understanding, and applying a student’s culture is necessary and has helped shape my professional development. My professional development has been shaped by including culture into my classroom design, and curriculum design for my students. Culture defines each person and it has led me to be more intrigued and interested in meeting people from different cultures in my personal life. That has given me knew understanding and perspectives I can apply to the classroom.
2. Having the ability to manage time with everything I do I am able to organize my life to get the most from it, and the same goes for my professional development as well. Throughout school I have had to time manage and is the reason for learning how to manage the time I spend on each task. Personally, my life does not feel so unbalanced since I have learned and applied my time management skills. I feel that it provides a smoother less stressed day then before learning that skills. Professionally, time management will play a big part in designating what will be done each day, in each class. Managing time as a teacher is important not only to get through the content but it also allows for time that the students can ask questions and get the help they need. Without time management some kids may not get the extra or needed help.
Describe your plans for putting your education to use within your community.
In the beginning of my journey at Ashford I was a bit fearful of not making it like my first attempt at school when I was younger but I was also fearful that if I finished school I would be successful. I never understood that fear, especially with being successful, until this discussion. One of the resources provided talks about the impostor phenomenon and the feelings within. Neureiter, & Traut-Mattausch (2016) states, “Impostor feelings are related to the fear of failure, fear of success, self-esteem, and the career-development aspects career planning, career striving, and the motivation to lead” (pg. 1). Having the fear to succeed or failure was putting stress on motivating myself to do my best. That went on for a bit until I had a professor say to me that everyone fears failing or being successful at one moment or another in their lives. He went on to say that it does not matter if you fail or succeed, but what matters is how you handle it and use it to continue moving forward. Those most have been the words I needed because everything faded away and I just went to work from then on.
I have been putting my education to use within my community since my sophomore year. I have been substituting and tutoring. I can take what I have learned and apply it to the classroom full of students or to a student in a one-on-one learning situation. I would eventually like to have a safe place after school that teachers volunteer at to help students who need extra help, support in school. The place will also be there for students to complete their homework, work on projects, use the computers or printers and so on. Providing a place for students to get the extra help, support, and time will benefit the students, parents, and community. I believe that it will also help parents to want to volunteer and do their part in helping with other skills such as automotive, gardening, engineering, and much more. There needs to be more places like this all over the world but first it takes one to start.

After graduation, my plan it to become a Preschool autism Teacher (PAC) for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). People move from all over the world to attend FCPS just for our special education resources. Our PAC program is a little hard to find in certain school districts, but it become more popular. I was unable to find the specific job on either site, so I found something similar and also provided a link for our counties PAC teacher position.
