Evidence Based Change

Evidence based practice nursing steers the integration of expertise opinion through integrating patient values and preferences (Kitson et al, 1998). Therefore, it is a critical thinking decision making process which involves appraising, searching, adapting, synthesizing, implementing and evaluating the findings in the evidence based research (LoBiondo-Wood, 2005). In reference to (Gibbs, 2003), evidence based practice tends to specify ways which professionals and other decision makers adheres to sound ethical thus achieving better outcomes. Moreover, the practice ultimate goal is to provide cost efficient and high quality nursing care possible.

             An evidence based research on how implementation affects the nursing practice is my reference through assessing how nursing homes promotes their quality of care through analyzing and marketing methodologies to influence public perception and attract customers. A retrospective study by (Grol & Wensing, 2004), through a random sampling of a number of nurses across the globe deduced that minimization of inherent cultural bias, understanding the dynamics and performance appraisals defines the success of the nursing homes thus improving the nursing practice. In a personal approach, the evidence based research is a very useful tool in nursing profession as it eases the criteria of inclusion thus improving the practice to patients.

             In my point of view, by creating awareness and the importance of the evidence based research to public is a pivotal decision maker in improving the nursing performance. According to (McKibbon, 1998), nursing performance is improved in terms of credibility, operational efficacy and effective applicability in all assumption. Evidence based research considers assessing all variables in both the practitioners and the target group (Melynk, 2011). I therefore propose that all problems are present in the nursing performance are solvable via evidence based research. It is a tool that incorporates empirical data and statistics to conclude a solution in medic field of specialization.
