Christian Worldview and Collaboration

Discuss how embodying the Christian worldview may help facilitate collaboration with stakeholders in higher education.

The perspective of collaboration is encapsulated right in the very first pages of the Bible where God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26). From the verse, we are able to deduce that God is often ready for perfect communion and relatedness. From the same Bible, we understand that humans are hardwired to be like God. As such, embracing collaboration within our communities should be a normal human behavior that is not forced or otherwise imposed on us, more so in highly civilized environments like institutions of higher education.

Stakeholders are important and relevant because of their role in soliciting for input from team members on issues that are significant to their contribution. Further, in higher education, the need for autonomy is honored to ensure that mastery is promoted. Consequently, higher education institutions are able to make superior decisions, pushing people higher up the job satisfaction ladder. In such environments, people are at ease in owning decisions even if it is not in their favor. As explained by Esqueda (2014), such collaboration should not only be limited to the internal affairs of an institution of higher learning. It should be a concept that goes to the external environment of such institutions.

At the same breadth, stakeholders should accept leadership. From the verse mentioned above, the bible has mentioned that God took the lead in suggesting that the holy trinity creates the human race. The other parties accepted and collaborated sufficiently. All along, none of the holy trinity has abandoned the responsibility that came with creating human beings. All along the bible, there has been consistency in this aspect. In the same way, human beings should collaborate right from the beginning to the end. The responsibility of collaborative decisions rests squarely on all parties present during the collaboration.
