Health Care Provision

When I was starting my internship, I had set four objectives that were to be accomplished in the course of the internship duration. These objectives were to assist fulfill my duties as health practitioner.

Objective 1.

I had planned to prevent and control chronic diseases for instance blood pressure and diabetes. I initially identified the causes of the chronic diseases so that I would be able to assist the patients. I believe that I fully accomplished this objective since I heavily advised patients regarding a lot of actions to take so as to prevent contacting chronic diseases. I advised individuals about the things that lead to contacting chronic diseases. Additionally, I advised patients who already had the for example diabetes to maintain healthy eating habits. Additionally I advised patients having blood pressure to maintain healthy weights and control their sodium chloride usage.  I also made sure that all the patients suffering from other chronic diseases learnt the importance of their medications intake.

Objective 2

The second objective was again fully attained since I did extensive research in determining and studying the population health wants. This I did by visiting the nearby neighborhoods and taking surveys of the areas regarding what the members felt required to be improved so that they can live illness free lives. I also looked at the statistics of the most recorded illnesses within my internship period. These statistics helped me plan my objectives towards managing health care and patient satisfaction.

Objective 3

This is an objective that I feel was accomplished the highest since I have daily contact with the patients.  I gave my best to make sure they got their treatment and other needs promptly to reduce their suffering.  I ensured that patients’ queues ran quickly. I also ensured that the lab results to patients were given promptly. I additionally, talked to other health workers showing them the areas required for patient satisfaction.

Objective 4

Having learnt the population health needs I was motivated to engage in primary healthcare program. I have to say that acquired a lot of knowledge regarding managing primary health care. I had the opportunity to work with the community towards improving their health conditions. I learnt that primary health care is the most important aspect towards accomplishment of sustained healthcare since the community is able to directly state their health problems. Primary healthcare has been known to reduce death rates countrywide thus; I was delighted to be part of the campaign.

My job involved administering medication to patients after the doctor has prescribed it. I had also the duty to ensure that patients got to the right specialists by directing them according to the health needs. Counseling the patients was an additional duty that I was involved in regarding various ways to improve their health and prevent contacting diseases. During the primary health care campaigns, I was involved in interviewing the community members concerning their health needs. I am glad that throughout my internship I was involved in many duties that helped the patients get better and learn diseases prevention and control. I am sure that I made a positive impact.

I have to report that my agency supervisor was very helpful throughout the internship. He helped in every obstacle I faced in the course of carrying out my duties. I learnt a lot from him since he is very experienced in the healthcare provision. He introduced me to many methods of handling patients including various methods of diagnosing patients’ illnesses. I would wish to work under his leadership again in the future.
