At the beginning of the semester, I used to think art was the origin of the course that I used to learn in the lower classes that was known as crafts and it could never be a course by its own in a college. I used to think that art included painting, drawing and collages for kids, print making for kids, making stained glasses, making sculptures, water coloring things and cooking. I used to think that art was specifically meant for small children who were in lower classes and was studied just for fun. I never took art important because I thought it would never be applicable in real life situations or whether there was a career that specifically dealt with the art study. On the other hand, I used to think that art was the abbreviation for the word artist, and it was that general term that was used to refer to artists instead of calling their names. Therefore, art to me was that actual composing of songs by the artists.

But now, I think art is defined by dances, sculptures, paintings, music, plays, movies, books, fashion, design and poetry. The importance of making arts is that they narrate a certain story, makes us to feel an emotion and are made for awakening our senses (Arbanova, 13)They are classified into six categories that includes; fine arts, visual arts, plastic arts, decorative arts, performance arts and applied arts. Art is generally referred to as any product or an activity that is made by people with a purpose that is aesthetic or communicative. It’s a cultural component that’s reflects social and economic substrates in a given design. Arts transmit values and ideas that are inherited by all cultures across time and space (James, 10).
