Leader’s role in establishing and running extraordinary teams.

A leader’s role is best explained through a story in a classroom discussion. He uses a repetitive phrase to emphasize the main point. The leader and their juniors have to have a connection, not an existence, Despite their success and having qualities for leadership, some leaders have difficulties in implementing leadership roles (Reynolds, 2015), which disables them from articulating these qualities or becoming mentors to their juniors. Students identified a great team and described the roles of a team leader that are summed up by Leadership 101. The starting role for the leader is identifying goals and giving direction by knowing and explaining the purpose of the organization. A leader rationalizes the goals, which affect the juniors’ emotions. According to Reynolds (2015), the leader illustrates facts using pictures and stories instead of tabulated facts.

The other leader’s role is to infuse ethos that include values, rituals, symbols and heroes, which will be passed on to future generations. Many values are unwritten code of conduct, for example secrecy, commitment, brotherhood, courage, and so on. Physically, the team has emotional expressions, based on rituals, slogans, and emblems, like flags and badges, as seen with Marine Corps (Reynolds, 2015). In a third role, the leader creates an enabling environment for members to empower themselves, while leaders create power cells through which they delegate roles. The leader’s performance is gauged through the power cells, who also cuts a self-image, and exposes or avails themselves to the team. The team, in cohorts with their leader, plans its way forward independently in order to improve themselves. A forth role is mentorship in which team members are built up to excel in their current roles and built leadership qualities. The final role for a leader is to set minimum standards for every team member, and encourage the members to outdo those standards (Reynolds, 2015).
