A Challenge of the Book of Acts

Question 1: Why is the Book of Acts still a Greek to Many People?

From the discussion, it is appreciated that a challenge exists on how the Book of Acts is Biblically interpreted and how it should be adopted to guide Christian life. For example, interpretations in regards to elements like the importance of Athens and Jerusalem in Paul’s story. In reality, Athens is appreciated to symbolize the secular world, while Jerusalem is the faithful community. That is, questions about the relationship that exists between what is real and what is revealed in the Bible, which is meant to guide Christianity, are raised. These questions also cover the relationship between the Christian faith and what is taught outside Church, in addition to the variations of opinions between the secular world and the Church. It is found out that there comes a point when Christians reject assumptions that come from opinions made academically and from the secular world. Besides, it has been settled that the Bible and people’s reasoning are two different sets of domains. This implies that efforts to interpret the importance of Biblical elements like Athens and Jerusalem are in vain, and the Bible has not done much to aid this, and more so, to settle the conflicting opinions of the Church, academic philosophy, and the secular world (Mounce, 2003).

Question 2: How Can One Be Prepared to Understand the Book of Acts before teaching it

Tunell (2015) enlightens that the Book of Acts is basically informing the actions of the Apostles of Jesus, which show how early forms of Christianity were. This, for instance, tells Christians how Christianity extended from the Jewish world to begin considering the Gentiles. Thus, it is all about the establishment and growth of Christianity that was achieved by Paul and Peter by spreading the Word of God which began from Jerusalem, to Athens, to Samaria, to Judea, and, consequently, to all parts of the world. This paper finds that this is the major step that is sufficient enough to make one understand and interpret the contents of the book of Acts.
