What I was missing was a practicable reference system to manage the miscellany of sources, particularly when I wished to promptly retrieve a given source. Initially, collation various sources of information involved converting the webpages of interest into the portable document format (.pdf) and storing these in any folder the web browser happened to utilize at that time. The download folders varied since other downloads such as audio and video files, alongside images, went to different folders. In brief, the information sources of interest were scattered over different folders, making it difficult to retrieve the same for further reference. I found the experience was disorienting because by the time I located the desired document, had forgot the specific ways I wished to use the sources. I needed to develop a practicable retrieval system in order to mitigate the haphazard manner of I collated the information which I stored as .pdf documents.
Results

The system I eventually adopted was simple to conceptualize and execute. The system’s core comprised of brainstorming diagrams in which I listed each .pdf document as a unique source within the diagram. Subsequently, I identified individual .pdf documents relative to topic or subject using a text tool on the .pdf reader. The identification process I adopted included a link to the source of the .pdf document online and the placement of the .pdf document in the respective diagram. The result was that I had a simple and practical reference system that was sufficient for the management of the previously miscellaneous and unwieldly .pdf documents.
