Ben Carson and his Racial Perception

Ben Carson, a presidential candidate running for Republican nomination, is a black
retired neurosurgeon and odd and valuable as far as racial matters are concerned in the United
States. Mr. Carson is a staunch party conservative and seems to be the black republican many
the white republicans can pay attention to when he addresses the race issue. This is because of
his position when it comes to matters of race relations. Despite the fact that he does not talk
much on the issue like the president, he acknowledges the fact that racism is real. For instance,
in the case where a young white murdered nine blacks in a Charleston church he openly
condemned the killing and claimed that it was driven. Unlike Rand Paul, also republican
presidential contender, whore referred to the issue as sickness. Carson claimed that to foster
racial healing, the sickness should be revealed and makes people know that it is real and work
towards fighting it.
Besides, when Carson was asked by a reporter why he don’t like talking about the race
issues often he replied that it was because he is a neurosurgeon. He argued that when he takes
somebody to the operating room, he operates on a thing that makes people who they are.
Further, he insisted that neither the hair nor the skin make people who they are but the brain
does. Moreover, he argues that the strength of the nation comes from unity as Americans and
not the divided by color. Based on Carson’s argument and his position to openly rebuke racial
acts, it can be argued that if elected to be the next president of the United States, he will work
to unite Americans beyond the racial lines. Racism can only be fought by accepting its presence
and working towards eliminating it.
