Benefits of Diversity in Workforce

One of the most significant aspects I have learnt in this course is diversity. Diversity helps in understanding, accepting, acknowledging, and valuing differences between individuals with respect to ethnicity, race, gender, disabilities, age and others. According du Plessis (42-43) diversity benefits both employers and associates. Irrespective of associates’ interdependency in the workplace, respecting their personal differences increases productivity. In the workplace, diversity increases marketing opportunities, creativity, recruitment, business image and reduces lawsuits. When an environment prioritizes inclusivity, the employees feel happy and comfortable, leading to increased performance. 

Cultural differences and language barriers may be an obstacle in an organization that is expanding their business globally if they only hire employee from just one cluster (Ludviga 53-63). This lesson is important in my career because, when a workforce is diverse, it forms a reflection of a changing marketplace and world. Respecting personal differences is advantageous in a workplace as it increases work productivity and creates a competitive edge.  Majority of workplaces have diverse culture so, firms should adapt this technique to be successful.

This is because it helps an organization to achieve goals and maximizes efficiency. As you stated, leadership assists in identification of strength. Leadership and communication are a one full aspect as none works solely. For any business or organization to be successful, it requires an effective leader. In future leadership will help you towards your subordinates with the leadership skills you have acquired. Understanding and communicating effectively with employers and employees is very crucial. Communication skills are applied in almost all roles in an organization. Communication is among the major critical requisites and fundamentals for a harmonious and progressive interaction, development and survival of humanity. In the business dynamics today, employer communication may either cause business failure or success. Effective communication is also essential due to business diversity. As you stated, it is important to understand the workmates. This may be due to different racial groups, gender, ethnicity and age groups in workplace.
