Case example 9A

On case example 9A there is a dead woman discovered dead in her apartment. Her death is caused by an indoor shooting incidence. The victim has succumbed to several gunshots on different parts of her body.it is important to carry out an examination of the crime scene for physical evidence. All legal elements that need to be satisfied are important to the investigators to know them. They are the vital items required to prove a commission of any crime undergoing investigation. Wounds on victim’s body. There are several wounds on the body of the victim. The first wound is discovered on lower abdomen of the victim. Bloodstain and gunshot residue is located on the shirt of the victim. This is evident that the victim had a contact wound that implies the shooting distant was a contact shot (Lasley, Guskos, and Seymour, 264). There is another bullet wound discovered in the victim’s lower back. This shows the bullet track extended from entry wound through the body to the exist wound. There is a third bullet wound on the face of the victim. The wound has some soot like substance that is evident that the shooter was very close to the victim. It is evident that the victim was lying on the floor at the time she was shot on the face. (Lasley, Guskos and Seymour, 267)

Examination of the crime scene for physical evidence. There is a weapon located between the feet of the victim. The position of the weapon is of concern to this case. There are unfired cartridges located on the floor near the feet of the victim. It is discovered that there is a bullet strike through the kitchen wall and then through the exterior of the apartment building. This suggests that the shooter was inside the victim’s apartment. (Lasley, Guskos and Seymour, 269) 

Weapon used to shoot the victim. The weapon used in this crime can be determined from the findings of the investigations. According to Lasley, Guskos and Seymour (264), basing the nature of the wounds on the victim, the weapon used is a smaller, less powerful firearm. Cause of death of the victim. There are several gunshot wounds on the victim’s body. One gunshot wound led to her death. Taking to account the investigations, the victim’s death is caused by the bullet wound on the face.

Classification of crime. The results of the investigation suggest that the victim was murdered. There is enough evidence to show that there was another person in the victim’s apartment during the shooting. The loaded gun between the victim’s legs is discovered to have been staged by the shooter. (Lasley, Guskos and Seymour, 268). The shooter is playing foul that he or she shot the victim to claim self-defense.

Pursuit on the case. Relying on the physical evidence on the crime scene, here is prove to conclude that the case is murder and not man-slaughter. At the scene, a plastic bag possessing cartridges and gun cleaning tool is discovered (Lasley, Guskos and Seymour, 269). There is evidence that the shooter used and cleaned the gun on the crime scene. The unfired cartridges are positioned at that point with an intention to have the scene appear as a suicide.
