Christian and Jewish Freedom

Societal Need

The Jewish view of religious freedom was well marked as a revolutionary change in the medieval era. This came in change of attitudes in issues such as idolatry and attitudes Christianity and Islamic (who they share monotheism and morality. The biggest difference between these religions is on the topics of revelation. 

In this medieval era, the Jews especially those in Germany face a lot of indignities after the crusades such as accusation of poisoning wells and ritual murder. In the 15^th and 16^th centuries, there was a lot of massacres from these charges. This saw the German Jews were forced to flee to the East leading to the formation of dialect. The Jews faced a lot of prosecution in Germany forcing them to seek refuge in other countries such as Poland. The Jews were subjected to tough conditions in concentration camps. The freedom of the Jews came when the Holocaust Train that was meant to lead to the death of the Jews saw their freedom.

In 2014, Jews in Europe were subjected to various forms of persecution such as murder, rape, being beaten, stalked, chased, harassed and insulted just for being Jewish. The Jews in France faced most of this persecutions especially when a gunman attacked and killed three children and a rabii at Jewish school in Toulouse in 2012. The worst attack involved killing of four Jewish shoppers at kosher supermarket. France was noted of having an increase in anti-Semitic attack by 84% in the first quarter of 2015 (Bender & Casey, 2015).

Some arguments have been put forward to indicate the Christians still remains to the most persecuted religious group. Recent persecutions cases in the last include the killing of 60 Catholic priest by Iraq Islamists in 2010. Others cases include the hellish concentration camps for Christians in Eritrea. The International Society for Human Rights observed that 80% of religious freedom violations across the world are carried out against Christians (Chaney, 2017)

The Christian Freedom foundation observed that over 300 people face death all over the world due to their Christian faith. 200 religious places of worship associated to Christianity are reported to be destroyed monthly. Approximately 800 incidents are committed every month. The State department maintain records of over 60 countries where religious discrimination is commonly practiced. In most of these place, Islamic is the dominant religion and some has Islam as the official religion. The religious minorities, Jews and Christians faces a lot of persecutions (Christian Freedom International, 2017).

Christian Freedom International 

The mission of Christian Freedom International is to assist Christians who are being persecuted and undergoing suffering for their faith in Jesus Christ. It is comprised on non-denominational human rights organization that offers solutions to situations of oppression and misery that result from persecution. They extend their service to the parts that are most repressed and isolated. In areas hit by disaster, Christian Freedom International offer immediate relief to Christians being ignored by the conventional aid organizations. The persecuted Christians are offered help through acts such as Bible distribution, medical support, assistance in resettlement, advocacy, seeking asylum, education support and vocation training (Christian Freedolm International, 2017). 

International Association for Religious Freedom

This is a unique ministry that provides charity work for freedom of religions and belief all over the world. It is an inter-religious organization. It aims at promoting tolerance and interfaith associations through promotion of dialogue and social justice projects (International Association of Religious Freedom, 2017).

SPCJ security service

This is a French-based organizations made up of staff and volunteers that aims at protecting the Jewish life in its pluralistic expression. It was founded after the 1980 bombing of rue Copernic Synagogue. Its mandate expanded with the growing cases of anti-Semitism and terrorism. 

World Jewish congress

This is an international organization that represents the Jewish communities and organizations in more than 100 countries all over the world. It advocates on their behalf to the governments, parliaments and international organizations. It stands for the plurality of the Jewish people and is does not engage in politics. The mission of the World Jewish Congress is to work for the unity and represent the interests of the Jewish people. It also seeks to ensure the continuity and development of the Jewish religious, spiritual, cultural and social heritage (World Jewish Congress, 2017).
