Cognitive Learning Theory in Adult Learning

A cognitive learning theory for adults appeals to the mental capability of an adult. They can manage to develop their learning programs better than when they are younger. Informal learning for adults is especially important in ensuring that people can easily get access to the information they require by use of the internet. According to the Oxford Union Debate on Informal Learning, the use of the internet is not the only way to foster education and knowledge but it works (Cross, 2011). The use of technology in informal learning should be taken more seriously over time to ensure that people are not ignoring the importance of the internet in learning.

When looking at the capability of adults to learn a new language, it becomes evident that cognitive capabilities are important. The use of the internet today makes it easy for an adult learner to research and take part in the learning process despite being advanced in age (Eurydice, 2018). The ability of people to engage in learning over time is important and relevant in making people better knowledgeable. The best strategy to use in the instruction of adults is to use theory and issue practical exercises to partake in. It is evident that people in the education system have different needs in as far as their capabilities need. There are cognitive challenges that an individual is likely to face may be made simpler or easier to deal with by use of technology. The human cognitive capability is unlikely to change but in the event where the individual understand what they need to do in order to learn, the process gets easier and more productive. Ultimately, the learning process of the adult banks more on their cognitive capability than any other learning ability.
