Before the investigators start to look into the scene of crime, they gather as much information as possible about the scene (Ramadhani 164). As such, there is the need to adopt a slow and methodological approach when checking a crime scene for forensics. Gathering of information is to help to prevent the destruction of valuable as well as fragile evidence lie finger prints, stains, shoe traces, and such. After gathering all the information, a mental plan is put in place to create a formula for analyzing the scene. As such, it is essential to preserve every aspect of the scene to make the investigation quick and also fruitful.

The areas that should be documented for forensic investigation are such as identification cards, wills, title deeds, seals, stamps, bank checks, machine generated documents, and money (Ramadhani 165). In some cases, graffiti and digital signatures may be subjects of examination. However, it is essential that the client is aware that the examination of these evidences might be challenging. Those documents that do not contain visible marks for identification may have useful impression evidence if they were under other documents during writing. It is equally important to preserve documents that appear shredded or partially burnt. Moreover, writing instruments such as envelops, rubber stamps, as well as other office equipment found at a scene may be useful for investigations. 

To sum it up, forensic evidence it essential when it comes to criminal investigation. For example, when it comes to digital documents, evidence can be from metadata of electronic signatures. In cases where the handwriting is center of interest, the samples are in two types: requested writing specimen and collected writing specimens. The requested specimens are usually told to a writer by an investigator. There is close monitoring of the writer. On the other hand, collected writing are those completed before the investigation by a subject. Good sources of writing are like letters, receipts, and checks. Contracts, medical records, and other signed documents. Each aspect of a crime is significant despite how small it seems. Therefore, an investigator should strive to preserve the crime scene to collect as much information as possible.
