Core Values

The best way to sum up a person is through his core values. They do more than define him; they determine how he makes his decisions, what kind of life he lives and even where he lives. My core values are integrity, trustworthiness, consistency, honesty, and punctuality. This paper seeks to analyze a couple of my core values, namely: integrity and trustworthiness (Levenson, 2013).

Integrity

I have always thought that integrity informs the character of a person. Every decision that is made with integrity is honest, considerate, informed, and selfless. Integrity also makes me a worthy friend when dealing with people. The good thing about having integrity is that it combines a very strong set of values which include honesty, absolute truthfulness, and dignity.

Integrity also makes me have a strong character. It draws a line beyond which I cannot go when dealing with both myself and with others. It enables me to live with other people peacefully and to take responsibility of my actions whenever I need to. Integrity for me is two-sided. It protects both me and those around me from poor character.  I have to show integrity to both me and the values and principles I stand for, and to others (Levenson, 2013).

Trust

Trustworthiness makes someone who can be relied upon. It tops the list of character. It is the one value that you must work hard to possess. People take time to trust anyone. Trust opens up the world for me.

The world is full of opportunities. These opportunities are however tied to people. For us to get access to them, we have to convince people that we deserve them. The convincing in this case cannot be done with mere words. Strong character and trust come in. Once I have achieved these, I have a whole lot of opportunities (Levenson, 2013).

Conclusion

In conclusion, trust and integrity are my chief core values. Whenever I make decisions, they pass through these two measures of value before becoming accepted. These two values are absolute. They will always make me a better person to myself and others.
