The canine caper episode is the second episode in the five-part simulation of the CSI experience. In this second part, the simulation involves a series or rooms with investigative clues. The case is of a possible murder and dog-napping incident. Although the second part is quite intriguing and explosive in its content and detail, there are some areas that could use improvement. Firstly, the dog in question is not revealed, meaning that one has to figure out how it looks like. Given that the only evidence on the dog is the dog food and the hair, it may not be possible to tell from a number of dogs, the specific dog that was stolen. The inability to describe the canine is a significant fault. The person of interest is also a veterinarian. Suspecting a veterinarian of dog-napping is possible but also difficult to prove. The episode simply makes the gamer consider many improbable circumstance under which the dog was taken (Forensics.rice.edu., n.d.).
From the toxicology report, there is both a bite wound and evidence of blunt object injuring back of head. This poses significant loopholes on the motive and nature of attack. The deceased was bitten by a human being, who may have caused the same attack with the blunt object. Indeed, one has to wonder how many attacks it took to kill the victim. At the same time, there is no sign of forceful resistance, rather, it was a surprise attack. The motive could have been to kidnap the dog. However, it seems highly improbable that homicide be motivated by a pet dispute. The evidence indicates possible DNA match with the victim, suggesting that the assailant was an identical twin. Perhaps this is the most intriguing bit in the simulation. Regardless, it casts more aspersions on the motive of attack (White, 2016).
