The security and the prosperity of the United States greatly rely on the response of the country to the challenges and the opportunities of cyberspace. One of the policies in use in the United State is the National Cyber Security Strategy to prevent the country from cyber-attacks that are likely to harm the Americans and international business (Trump, 2018). The White House (2018) explains that North Korea, Iran, China, and Russia all apply cyberspace to challenge the national security in attempts to steal the country’s intellectual property, democracy and economy, and slows the discord of the US democratic processes.
For the Small World SIMTRY Game, I scored 81% which is an indication of understanding many of the elements affecting cyber networks. According to Teah and Mahmood (2017), cyber networks are prone to be used as elements of war, disruption, espionage, and sabotage which greatly affect the real world. The SIMTRY opens the need of every country hiring cybersecurity personnel who will understand the aspects of the international implication of cybersecurity. Min, Chai, and Han (2015) explain that the increasing number of cyberattacks in the US is as a result of a developed economy that has to lend to the high reliability of the Internet.
According to the United States Department of Defense, the use of computers and the internet attracts warfare in cyberspace which is threatening national security but also a route for defender attacks. The White House (2018) explains that the aspect of cyberspace is managed through the approach of cyberspace command which centralizes all cyberspace operations, a policy termed as Unified Combatant Command. The national security in the US is regulated by a central board which is the United States Department of Defense (DOD, USDOD, or DoD) where they operate under their mission to provide “the military forces needed to deter war and ensure our nation’s security” (The US Department of Defense, 2018).
