Database technologies plays an essential role of presenting the interests of the external world via an internal representation. Database technology plays an important role of ensuring the external reality is in line with the internal representation. In the modern-day world, it is evident that most of the businesses depend on database technology in the running of their day to day activities. The fact is a clear indicator that database technology plays a significant role in the business world. For instance, air transport depends on database technology when it comes to the reservation of sets and scheduling of flights. Second, major utilities require the database technology for purposes of distribution and maintenance. Project management is a common aspect in almost all sectors of the economy (Storey, & Song, 2017). Database technology in project management helps in workflow and production processes involved. The outlined examples are just a few aspects that apply database technology. Database technology is essential in information management, data visualization, documentation systems and workflow models amongst others.

Database privacy is concerned with the ability of IT to determine the ability of a corporation or a person to determine the information in a computer system that is to be shared with third parties. Database privacy focuses on integrity, confidentiality and balancing of personal data (Storey, & Song, 2017). The balance is not limited to trade-off but it takes other features such as nature and sensitivity of data in storage. In order to achieve the balance, there is need to develop technical solutions related to data privacy.

The fact that databases serve various social goals means that protection of information should be upheld within the databases.
