I enjoyed reading the book as I’m a fan of history. The author gives details of the events of the battle of Little Bighorn, and no matter how much you have heard about the battle, you will still love the book. Through his writing, the author gives a different view of this war, unlike other narratives which have in the past talked about the war. The themes of history, war, and ethnicity are shown through the chapters. 

General Custer is among the major character and we see how his operations influenced the entire war. Custer is not seen as a hero, but without his character, the book would be bland. The author is keen on the details, and new readers of the war get a clear picture of what happened. It is important to mention that the author had the reader realize the role of Native Americans in the battle. Phillip Thomas helps the reader understand the role of Cheyenne warriors and the wars they fought. “Death at the Little Bighorn: A New Look at Custer, His Tactics, and the Tragic Decisions Made at the Last Stand” gives a fresh perspective of the war, and through the author’s narration, the reader is made aware of the history of American Indians. The book has the reader understand that American Indians were not as vile as portrayed in some publications.

I love the in-depth analysis given by the author. It is a great book and is easy to comprehend. A four out of five stars from me. I would recommend it to readers who love reading about wars and want to be informed about the Battle of the Little Bighorn
