Department of Homeland Security

Within the divisions in Homeland Security Department, there are no clear cut sections for the disabled. The department has covered all the possible sector of national security except where the disabled are concerned. They may be covered within the sections in the divisions but they have no division handling their issues specifically. A division set aside for the disabled will be in a position to identify the threats that could face the disabled and identify when the disabled pose a threat to national security. For instance, people on wheelchairs are better placed to act as suicide bombers without being detected as opposed to able bodied people. The Department of Homeland Security meets the intent of its stated mission. The protection of the United States is not an easy feat considering the fact that it is the Super power of nations.

Department of Homeland Security is concerned with the safety of the country against external threats. The main aim of Homeland Security is to secure the nation which it has effectively done for a long time. There have been a few mishaps over the years but mostly the department has been successful (Homeland Security, n.d.). There is a possibly new crop of terrorist attacks that seems to stem from within the country. This may be coming in the form of the shootings that have been taking place in the recent times. Homeland security needs to look into the root cause of these attacks in order to clearly establish that they are not terrorist attacks. 

The Department of Homeland Security serves its customers to the best of their ability given that the systems put in place to prevent calamities are the best possible. Homeland Security is very well advanced in terms of technology and this gives them the advantage of anticipating and preventing terrorist attacks. Homeland Security is given the mandate of taking care of the safety of the country.

The Department of Homeland Security supports the procedures that ensure the security of a country. Homeland has so far succeeded in preparation, mitigation, response, and recovery for manmade accidents and natural disasters (Homeland Security Department, n.d.). The preparation of dealing with natural calamities can be done in instances where issues like drought occur. In California for instance, where the reservoirs threaten to burst banks, Homeland is supposed to be aware of how to handle the extra water and at the same time find a way of managing the other areas of California that have not had the relief of rain from the storms.

The Department of Homeland Security undertakes several activities. It has Laboratory facilities, University openings as well as Research, Development and Innovation support systems. The objectives of the Laboratory facilities are to ensure that nothing is assumed without being tested for authenticity with regards to the national security. University opportunities are offered to young citizens who are eager to serve in the national security department (Homeland Security Official Website, n.d.). Training is offered with guaranteed employment eventually. Research, Development and Innovation encouraged the development of first class technology and techniques of safeguarding the guarding the country against attacks. These systems enable the Homeland Security Department to ensure their clients get value for their money by providing the best possible security systems, the intelligence is what guides the department in ensuring the state is secure at all times. The Homeland Security Department has so far been a success considering the number of times attacks have been prevented.
