Week 11 Discussion

Hello class

I have learnt a lot of things in this course work. However the most surprising of all is that as a graduate in this field, I can rule over many sectors. Some of the sectors are food and beverages industry, hospitality marketing and media, communication and advertising, purchasing and supply chain, hotels and resorts, meeting and event management, hospitality real estate, and Finance and Revenue among others. This course also opens doors for vacancies in these sectors in either corporate or operational side. Both sides are beneficial and this gives students a chance to choose which industry they would prefer.

I would recommend this course to a friend due to the benefits in future. In selling the course, I would encourage the friend to use their head in business and their heart in hospitality. Not only are there many sectors supporting this course but, hospitality is one of the fastest growing industry in the world. According to I Nurture (2016), hospitality is a highly competitive industry where students after graduating gets jobs from different hospitality companies everywhere and anywhere in the world.

I like your discussion on the most surprising and striking thing in hospitality course. According to you, the pay check of a club manager surprised you. These individuals also earn bonuses according to their performance. They also work in a unique and exciting environment that keeps them on their toes. This type of occupation exposes the individual to different types of people who are socially and politically “important”. William, what are the requirements of being a GM in a club?

Hello Brian,

I agree with you that this class was interesting and students will not just qualify but the learning will impact their everyday life. You have talked about an event manager and their benefits to the society. Additionally, event managers work for fewer hours to make money. This can also be a part time job or a hobby. Many of the ideas we learned are applicable in a variety of sectors. I agree that this course is sellable to a friend. This is because it has so many benefits both as a career and as a part time job. Brian, which other part time occupations are found in this course?
