Answer:

Introduction

There are varying opinions in the market as to whether Samsung phones or apple phones are the best in terms of usage. Since both are smartphones and serve the same purposes, the study assumes that there is no significant difference in the price of the two phones with similar features thus it goes ahead to establish whether this affects preference among customers.

Rationale for choice of topic

It is normal for customers to prefer one product to another in the market. Preference may be due to quality, price and other characteristics. There has been a claim that customers prefer Apple phones to Samsung phone. There is a research gap to explain the difference in preference stated. That is why this research has chosen this topic to establish whether in deed a difference in preference exist and why.

Research hypothesis

Ho: There is no significant difference in the cost of Samsung and apple phone having similar features. Versus

H1: There is a significant difference in the cost of Samsung and apple phone having similar features.

Bias explanation and solutions

Moderator bias is where the interviewer demeanor affects the quality of the data collected. Solution; the research team should be trained on how to be diligent in asking questions.

Research bias due to biased sample occurs where the respondents interviewed to not represent the intended population. Solution; employment of purposive sampling which is non-probability sampling to identify relevant respondents .

Bias questions occur due to the interviewer asking leading questions. Solution;  framing questions appropriately.

Biased in answers may be due to a respondent giving a statement which is not true. To avoid bias answers, the study tried to be specific in the questions being asked.

Sampling method

Purposive or judgmental sampling

Purposive or judgmental sampling method is where the research study has got the freedom to choose the sample which has the attributes required for the research.

This is how only respondents who owned Samsung and apple phones were sampled.

Conclusion

From the t-test results in the table above, it can be observed that the p-value (.29) is greater than the level of significance (.05). The research study is therefore directed to accept the null hypothesis and reject the alternative hypothesis. The conclusion therefore is that there is no significant difference in the cost of Samsung and apple phone having similar features hence preference too.
