Evidence Based Strategies

There are both internal and external contributors to the success of hospitals. Externally, healthcare providers have to establish good working relations with their host communities as well as elected legislative officials. Outreach programs aimed at keeping members aware of the importance of maintaining healthy habits as well as conducting preventive medicine ground healthcare centers in their host communities. Likewise, adhering to local and federal regulations, such as securing patient data, makes it possible for healthcare centers that wish to expand to mobilize the support they need to source for capital and equipment (Baier, 2019). Internally, gainful structures such as a multidisciplinary approach to remuneration, accountability to peers, and a physician-patient grounded culture enables healthcare providers deliver the quality care to their clients (Barry, 2019; McCarthy, Mueller & Wrenn, 2009; Bresnick, 2017). For hospitals to fulfill their mandate, the data they utilize has to be secure from external breaches and internal misuse. 

Studies show that health-related data has grown exponentially and with it, numerous integration possibilities and increasingly, changing cybersecurity needs. Reliable health data underpins the formulation of effective strategies for hospitals, regulators, policymakers and supply chain vendors such as service and equipment suppliers and insurance providers. In order to fully utilize data healthcare-generated data, innovation by hospital administrators has become necessary (Barry, 2019). Data-driven strategies, with data security at the core, are now an industry standard with regard to delivering quality care. 

To illustrate, both public and private actors in the healthcare industry are increasingly participating in sensitizing both caregivers and patients on the importance of cyber security and health record confidentiality respectively. Organizations such as the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare organizations and the Institute for healthcare Improvement among others provide valuable insights on cyber-related issues to member organizations (Reid et al., 2005). Additionally, hospitals often raise finances necessary to scale up their operations in order to compete as premier medical centers. In this regard, the security of clinical information has become an important indicator that investors evaluate in determining eligibility (Reid et al., 2005). Presently, the scale up of operations means a larger cyber footprint given the popularity of cloud computing and storage solutions. Consequently, the expansion of healthcare services has meant that institutions such as the Mayo clinic have also to invest more in cyber security measures and personnel awareness. 

The convergence of healthcare and industry data enables administrators and stakeholders coordinate with seamlessness efficiency. In contrast, the reliance on information technologies potentially exposes healthcare institutions to differentiated cyber-attacks. For this reason, hospitals have had to invest in maintaining information technology specialists to counter the evolving cyber-attacks. 

Securing patient information has become an important industry standard in the provision of healthcare. In addition to the administration of timely and appropriate medical interventions, cyber security has become crucial in the ensuring patient data (Barry, 2019). The use of applications on smart devices to monitor post-treatment outcomes is demonstrative of the importance of cyber-security. This is because information technologies include devices and portals that are vulnerable to hacking, making their security an important part of delivering and accessing care.
