Executive Summary: Health Awareness Initiative Program

Health Awareness Initiative Program will be the basis for health educational awareness of chronic diseases; especially Tuberculosis. The idea is to bring awareness to the doorsteps of the community and society as a whole. This initiative program focuses on providing people with accessibility, information and the resources about Tuberculosis. Furthermore, present to the community what the symptoms are, what treatment involves and how to manage the disease to avoid spreading to others.

The Purpose of the program:

Our inner cities have been ravaged with different situation and have undermined the ability of a regular citizen to take care of their health needs. Health care needs have become second priority to these families and need help to educate them on the heath educational needs of today; how they can go about seeking medical care if the need arise. Moreover, it is relevant to inform the public the dangers of tuberculosis in the community to decrease the spread of the dangerous disease.

The dangers of Tuberculosis are:

  1. Tuberculosis is a chronic infection disease caused by a bacterium called mycobacterium (Everyday Health, 2015).
  2. The disease Tuberculosis affects the lungs, with warning signs of a cough, chase pain, shortness of breath, weight loss and increasing night sweat.
  3. Transmission occurs only after exposure to someone with active Tuberculosis.
  4. It is imperative to be aware of the disease because one can be affected without knowing of the condition.

Preventive measure:

  • To stop the spread of the disease, one must seek for treatment as soon as possible to avoid spreading to other people around.
  • One must be under the guidance of a physician or a nurse.
  • By using effective medication for the treatment of Tuberculosis.
  • The patient must follow regiments from the physician and do exactly what the doctor said.

The Target Population:

The target population for this health awareness initiative program will be those in the inner-city and the rural area. Our inner cities have been ravaged with the different social-cultural situation and have undermined the ability of a regular citizen to take care of their health needs. Health care needs have become second priority to these families and need help to educate them on the heath educational needs of today. Furthermore, educate those who do not understand the health care system, who does not have the knowledge or how to seek for medical treatment.

The Benefit of the program:

The program will create an awareness effect to the community. It will allow those who don’t have the knowledge or the education of health care procedure to be quite aware of the processes. The concept of bringing knowledge to the doorsteps of the community to enrich and improve their health care needs cannot be over-expressing. The importance will go a long way of creating readiness to the general community. The health awareness will be encouraging and contribute to building improvement of their health care needs.

The Cost:

The overall cost of this health educational initiative program will be $20, 000.00.  This will involve building the platform for the presentation, providing snacks and pure spring water for the attendees. The building of temporary platform will not be in one area; it will be in different regions of the city; the cost associated is in place. Moreover, the cost will also involve buying printed resources for the community. The program will be a great value to the community, public health care service, a high credibility for the hospital on public awareness and a medical improvement for the people.

The basis upon which the program will be evaluated:

The program is vital to the community and the society at large. Tuberculosis is a dangerous disease, and health service workers have to make the awareness known to people to avoid the spread of the deadly disease. I believe it will be an active advocacy and improvement to the health needs of the community. It will also show that the main general hospital cares for the general community. The effect of the health initiative program will be immediate because people will start to know what to do and how to seek treatment. Above all individual will start understanding the symptoms and the prevention of tuberculosis in the community.

Conclusion:

This initiative program focuses on providing people with accessibility, information and the resources about Tuberculosis. Furthermore, present to the community what the symptoms are, what treatment involves and how to manage the disease. The overall advantage of the program outweighs the disadvantage of people not knowing what to do, especially when it means tuberculosis. Health care needs have become second priority to these families and need help to educate them on the heath educational needs of today; how they can go about seeking medical care if the need arise. The lack of knowledge and education of tuberculosis is a real public health concern.
