Global Culture: A Reflection

When it comes to my professional development, this course has proved critical. I have managed to learn multiple skills from personal leadership to upholding team spirit, especially in virtual environments. I have also learned the importance of goals formulation as an important step in ensuring the achievement of organizational and personal objectives. Unfortunately, the presence of gaps in such goals has the potential to jeopardize organizational and personal objectives. In such cases, the ability to work out these goals without gaps is a vital and significant achievement. Alongside, teamwork is an important element and including it in the course was thoughtful because it will definitely help bring the team together.

Self-awareness is a great asset to have at work especially in an organization with a global presence. Being in a position to tell what one is good at and what one can handle effectively, is important in assessing abilities. The course has also extended this to cover the analysis of one’s behaviors and the influence such behaviors has on other people. Remaining positive in the face of adversity or any situation is necessary to develop positive relationships between my juniors and seniors.

Additionally, being conscious of my organization (situational awareness) and how it fits the global environment is important and this has been demonstrated sufficiently. This translates to the importance of finding more insights about my organizational structure, its strategy, important resources, and competencies that set it apart. This understanding should also traverse to financial objectives and perspectives of the organization. In this case, I have discovered that I need further insights into these aspects, and the course has given me the drive to desire to learn more about the organization and myself.
