The search strategy, including the list of databases and search terms used for this review, including the number of articles found using this method is shown in Table 1. The search was limited to articles published between January 1997 and December 2016 that met the following inclusion criteria: (provide examples as follows).

  • Study designs and aim/s
  • Intervention
  • Subjects and setting
  • Publication type and language: peer reviewed articles (in scholarly journals), published in English.

This literature search method yielded XXX articles.  Once duplicates (n=XX articles) were removed, the abstract of XXX articles were screened for inclusion in this review. The majority (only state this if it is indeed true and applies to your search process) of the articles (n=XXX) were (give a few examples of types of studies/articles rejected). These were excluded. (This is the first cull of articles).

The remaining XX full-test articles were screened for inclusion in this review. (This is the second cull of articles). A further XX articles were excluded for the following reasons: (give up to 4 reasons for excluding studies in this cull).
