High-impact Nonprofits are institutions that cause sustainable and positive change due to
their efforts (Crutchfield et al, 2012). I think that these organizations are the Holy Grail of
altruism. They succeed in involving people from outside their organization as evangelists,
donors, and volunteers. They marshal the public for massive social change. They use several
practices to expand their impact. The methods include working with governments and
advocating for policy changes. Habitat for Humanity International is a high-impact nonprofit
whose breakthrough came after engaging with a former president to be their ambassador
(Crutchfield et al, 2012). The involvement of Carter as a government personality drove the
organization to its success and increased funding capabilities. I am of the opinion that involving
government entities as evangelists as opposed to funders greatly helps in steering growth for the
nonprofits since government funding comes with various restrictions.
High-impact nonprofits gradually convert individual supporters to evangelists of the
organization’s sole purpose (Crutchfield et al, 2012). Supporters agree with the organization’s
cause, mission & vision and thus, best suited to be its evangelists. They believe in its
achievements and role in society as well. I trust that the use of supporters of leaders promotes the
rapid progress of such institutions since builds a unified community among internal staff and
clients while inspiring leadership. The supporters cum evangelists help to expand the territories
of the organization and bring new individuals on board as volunteers, advisors and funders.
The nonprofits build and foster good networks and develop allies with other groups. The
use of the church, faith based organization as a system by Habitat helped to reach out to large
masses thus increasing the supporters and volunteers (Crutchfield et al, 2012). I believe that

nurturing nonprofit networks expose such organizations to potential funders and supporters who
in turn become evangelists for the nonprofits. Creating allies with other teams increases
awareness of the organization’s existence among individuals. I think that increased awareness
promotes publicity and availability of more supporters.
These institutions share leadership and empower others to be forces for good by turning
donors and volunteers to evangelists and ambassadors. This transformation enhances the lives of
the donors and motivates them to recruit more individuals who in turn donate their money and
time thus contributing to the growth of the organization (Crutchfield et al, 2012). I believe that
sharing leadership helps to spread roles across the organization and promote growth and
performance of the internal staff at the organization. Habitat which grew to a high-impact
nonprofit organization empowered individuals by turning the donors to evangelists over time.
High-impact nonprofits harness market forces and use business to suit the purpose of the
entity (Crutchfield et al, 2012). For instance, Habitat constructed houses which it mortgages with
no interest rate. The revenue raised from the sale of those houses is reinvested by the
organization in other territories to serve a wider base. The forces of demand and supply apply so
well to habitat since their prices are affordable and have the fundamental housing units required
to meet the requirements. I am of the opinion that the use of money realized from the operations
of such organizations should indeed be used to serve the purpose of the entity. It ensures that the
leaders do not deviate from the vision and mission and that the body meets the donors’
expectations.
The nonprofits adapt to the changing environment by making sure that they serve
purposes that are relevant to society. In, essence means that the organizations should exist to

meet a need in society that affects a large number of people. Habitat for Humanity International
exists to end poverty housing, which is a need that involves a large number of individuals. The
amount of people who cannot afford decent housing is enormous and through Habitat, they can
access comfortable housing facilities at low costs (Crutchfield et al, 2012).
High-impact nonprofits are successful not because of their large budgets but because of
their ability to continuously recruit volunteers and donors whom they in turn transform to
evangelists (Crutchfield et al, 2012). The transformation serves a significant role in inculcating
leadership skills among several people in society. It also motivates the desire for more
individuals to be ambassadors of activities and practices of goodwill. I believe that the existence
of such institutions helps in creating awareness among society members of the importance of
giving as a social responsibility. The skills that volunteers acquire from participating in activities
of nonprofits contribute to steer and promote growth and wellbeing of the whole society.
Individuals also increase the power and influence of nonprofits since they have the ability to
move governments and exert pressure on their elected representatives.
