POWERPOINT PRESENTATION: FINAL ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
To understand how various diseases affect our body, communities and environment, students
must learn appropriate research skills to develop a professional presentation.
INSTRUCTIONS
After selecting your topic from the national notifiable diseases and conditions and providing the
appropriate outline and references, you will develop this final presentation. A significant portion
of your grade will be based on the content in your slides. Fully develop the following areas:
Problem Definition, Description of Agent, Description of Condition, Description of Host
Characteristics, Description of Environmental Attributes, Description of Temporal Variation,
Suggestions for Further Research, and Biblical Rationale. The student must address each area on
the slides and use the narration or audio presentation method. Failure to do so will result in a loss
of points.
For this assignment, you will create a PowerPoint presentation of at least 8–10 slides. The
PowerPoint presentation must be suitable for a professional meeting.
You will be graded on the presentational quality of your PowerPoint slides. Here are some tips
for a professional PowerPoint presentation:
• Choose a PowerPoint design, color scheme, font type, and bullet types.
• Organize the slides based on your headings and subheadings.
• Include a title slide (at the beginning) and a reference slide (at the end of the
presentation).
• Do not overload the slides with text and data.
• Use bullet points to organize your text.
• Keep the text abbreviated and concise.
• Strive for clarity.
• Choose a different layout for each slide.
• Use pictures, graphics, charts, and graphs to illustrate key points.
• Graphics must make the key concept clearer.
• Use at least 30 point font size consistently throughout.
• Final slides must emphasize key points or leave the audience with a question to think
about or answer.
You must also choose 1 of the following 2 options to include with your final presentation:
1. Type a narration for each slide in the notes section under each PowerPoint slide. The
narration must be at least 100 words per slide. The typed narration is what would be
orally presented, if you were to present this presentation in a professional meeting. Once
you have created your narrations in the notes section, go back through the slides and
eliminate words that are not necessary to your audience’s understanding. Delete bullet
points that you can explain better through your 100 word narration. Also, remember your
audience. This presentation must be suitable for a professional meeting.
2. Create an audio recording of yourself narrating your final presentation. The recording
must be clear and concise; each slide must be at least 30, but no more than 60 seconds
Page 1 of 2

long. Speak clearly and slowly, as though you were presenting in a professional meeting.
There are several voice recording software programs that can be downloaded for free.
Include a slide at the end of the presentation that lists all of the sources used in the presentation.
All citations or footnotes in the slides/notes section must be in current APA format.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
