Importance of an Integrated Health System

This course has made me appreciate the importance of quality and affordable healthcare in society. Affordable healthcare is essential if society wants to eradicate or mitigate diseases affecting public health. Lack of affordability in the healthcare sector will cause an increase in mortality rates in countries with high percentages of poor people. Poor technology leads to lack of quality treatment that limits patient recovery and treatment. Every society needs an affordable and quality society that is delivered fast and at convenient places. Throughout the course, I have appreciated the importance of a healthcare delivery system and technology in improving the fight against diseases.

The course has taught me the importance of integrated health and patient-centered service in helping achieve universal health coverage. Patient-centered health care includes services with a focus on health expectations and needs of communities and people instead of the illness. Patient-centered health services focus on the patient seeking treatment. I have also learned about integrated services encompassing the delivery and management of safe and quality health care. As stated, “For Americans to enjoy optimal health as individuals and as a population they must have the benefit of high-quality health care services that are effectively coordinated within a strong public health system” (NCBI, n.d.). This is the best way to achieve disease prevention, treatment, disease management, palliative care services, rehabilitation and promotion of health. Global organizations such as the World Health Organization are focused on ensuring the achievement of a global society that is healthy and satisfied. WHO has been on the frontline in aiding the creation of policies that help countries, especially in the third world countries to improve their health care delivery systems. Improvement of health care delivery systems are paramount in ensuring diseases such as malaria, which has had had adverse effects in Africa, are eradicated and the mortality rate reduced.

I also appreciate the role of technology in helping achieve quality health care in society. Technology is important since it has helped in the improvement of communication between health care providers. Using technology doctors and nurses are able to stay updated about the health conditions of their patients. Technology also makes it possible for patients to talk with doctors who are far and get the needed treatment. Technology has helped reduce errors and mistakes that are experienced by some medical personnel. As Bianca notes, “Continuous technological developments in healthcare have saved countless lives and improved the quality of life for more people” (Banova, 2018). Control equipment in the medical sector has reduced some of the mistakes that occur in hospitals. Mistakes such as failure in the supply of medicine and other types of mistakes due to human error have been eliminated with the automation of the medication delivery systems. Computers can monitor human conditions and prescribe the best treatment and solutions to the medical problem.

Technology and integrated healthcare delivery are important in improving the health of every nation while also reducing the mortality rates among children and adults. Technology has improved the way medical care is delivered to patients around the world. A good health care system is important in access to health services for every person including both the poor and the rich. Hospitals have adopted technology in their daily operations to reduce the time of health service delivery to patients. This course has made me appreciate the value of a stable and affordable health care system and the important role this plays in achieving affordable health care policies in any nation. The health system should not favor on social class in the country because this will promote inequality in the medical sector. A biased medical system does not help eliminate diseases around the world.
