The healthcare sector has continued to evolve, and it is doing this at a rapid pace due to specific trends that have come up in the industry and also due to the embrace of technology. One of the trends that are taking precedence is the emergence of technologies is the healthcare. It has been said that by 2020, the global healthcare industry will have been highly connected through mobile services, cloud computing, and data networks (Meissner, 2013). The use of artificial intelligence and drones for healthcare service delivery will also have been embraced to make healthcare much more efficient in remote areas.
Another trend will be the change in customer volume and demographics, and this mostly concerns data. Data is necessary because it indicates how healthcare should be discharged, what diseases need to be focused on more, who is likely to fall ill and other information. This is something that has become important to reduce the amount of wastage in facilities and having inflated workforce. As a practitioner, I will be willing to embrace these trends and welcome them because I will have had the necessary ICT and medical skills that are required in the field (Boxall, 2014). However, one would still need to learn about the integration of these two areas and how they can be used even in urban areas. The best way to ensure that I am ready for this evolution would be to learn and attend training to acquire the necessary skills.
These trends also include issues such as payment, and this is where universal healthcare comes in because it aims at lowering the cost of healthcare. Many healthcare facilities are usually in need of their patients to pay for the services, and most of them are not able to afford the healthcare this is a problem both for the provider and the patient because it will disrupt operations for the facility and in turn it may leave the patient with substantial debt that could arise by the day.
The first insight that I have gained is the future of Medicare and how it will be able to keep up with the trends in the industry. Some countries have not yet embraced the idea of universal healthcare, and in other countries, the idea has been working for 35 years (Jonash, 2015). This is a brilliant idea, but it would be better if the concept continues to grow and integrate new ventures from the innovators in the healthcare industry. This would ensure that the future of Medicare in the country is secured. The idea is to continue learning about emerging trends and innovations and also disseminating this information to countries that have not yet realized these trends.
The second insight is about the implementation of best practices in healthcare, and this where ethics take precedence because ethics ensures that practitioners can attend to patients in the best way they can and within their means. These insights will enable me as a medical giver to have individual targets once I get into the field and they will give me a sense of direction to perform my duties as per the teachings of the Master’s Program (Jonash, 2015). Once the best practices have been implemented and adhered to it makes the dissemination of one’s functions much more accessible and relatable.
The trends and innovations that come up enable the healthcare facilities to be able to plan strategically for the future. Information is critical in planning because it reduces the chances of confusion and chaos and instead leads to organization and efficiency in the healthcare facilities.
