James Bond Film Series

The James Bond flick sequence is a British categorization of emissary movies forming its basis on an illusory personality of M16. James Bond or rather agent double O seven (007) plays the role of MI6. The character initially appeared in Ian Fleming’s volume of books. History describes this constantly showing series as the longest serving since 1962 (Moore, Roger & Gareth, 2).  This paper work discusses the history of the lick series, the production company and process and the various movies that James Bond has acted with the various individuals that impersonated the character.

Eon productions have produced various movies over the years. During the six-year lull of the James Bond series, from 1989 to 1995, the fabrication company ventured into the creation of twenty-three other movies at the Pinewood Studios some of which include the Genius Photographic Creation and Harry Potter pictures (Elhefnawy, 20). The “007” role is lately being played by Daniel Craig after six other actors. Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and, Lazenby enacted the role before Daniel.

A majority of production of the Eon films was under Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli. The latter later gained sole ownership of the creation process. Broccoli combined forces with his stepson, Michael G. Wilson pending 1995 and his daughter Barbara supplanted him (Duncan, 32). The ownership of this film series is by the Broccoli family under the company name, Danjaq, over Eon. United Artists form part of the ownership rights. The success of this sequence is because of the consistency of the crew, core actors, authors, executives, fabrication engineers and playwrights.

Saltzman and Broccoli set up auditions in order to find the first James Bond enactor and Peter Anthony landed on the role but later dropped it because he was experiencing strain. At the end, after looking at Sean Connery’s skills in the movies; the Little People, On the Fiddle and, Darby O’Gill, Broccoli and Saltzman had no choice but to work with him. Sean was contesting for this role alongside Trevor Howard, Rex Harrison, Patrick McGoohan, James Mason, David Niven and, Richard Johnson all of whom were Broccoli’s friends. Connery performed in five Bond flicks: Dr. No in 1962, From Russia with Love in 1963, Goldfinger in 1964, and Thunderball in 1965 finally, You Only Live Twice done in 1967. The sequence burnt him out and he felt like he needed to venture into a new thriving career (Nitins, Tanya, & Robert, 55).

The exit of Sean meant that Saltzman and Broccoli had to find his replacement before the movie series kicks off again. They approved of Timothy Dalton but he bolted out because he thought he was too young to play the role. Leaving the producers stranded, they caught sight of George Lazenby in an exploit refrained commercial of Fry’s Chocolate Cream. This British actor was so talented that he dropped the Bond film contract and obtained other deals. He was a success.

The desperation of the co-producers made them look for the Goldfinger star; Sean Connery and Guy Hamilton as the producer in order to retain the audience they had hence ensure a bright future for the enterprise. The recreation of the film was in the United States. A paycheck of one point two five million dollars, twelve point five percent of the gross returns reaped and, one hundred and forty five thousand dollars every week, formed the demands of Sean under the condition that the series hits the auditoriums for more than eighteen weeks. The fulfillment of his demands was a success after the release of the flick Diamonds Are Forever that exhilarated many viewers. The coffers realized formed the Scottish International Education Trust fund that offered eruditions to Scottish entertainers.

In 1970, Saltzman and Broccoli wanted another personality that would enact the Bond series. An impeccable and open-minded individual is what they needed. Roger Moore was contesting for this role alongside Julian Glover, Jeremy Brett and, Michael Billington but he emerged as the best. He gained coast-to-coast recognition and veneration from the title roles in The Persuaders and The Saint. He became the lengthiest serving Bond in the Eon creation set. Seven films were under Moore’s name beginning in 1973 with Live and Let Die (Weiner, Robert, Whitfield, & Jack, 67). In the subsequent year, 1974, Roger played in The Man with the Golden Gun that Harry Saltzman co-produced before losing his Eon shares. The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977 made Moore an international icon. It was the initial Bond flick hewed from completely innovative substance. In contrast, Fleming seemed to be frustrated with his novel bearing the unchanged name. Moore went the extra mile when he acted in Moonraker in 1979 and For Your Eyes Only in 1981 after which he decided to take a bow and left playing the role.

After the collaboration of Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, a quest started for another James Bond and James Brolin got the contract where he even bought a house in England but he was American. Later, Brolin’s contract to Wilson and Broccoli failed since he was opposite Connery since it was a non-Eon production. This led to the re-assignment of Moore and enacted two final films; Octopussy in 1983 and A View to a Kill in 1985 after which he dangled up his holster at the age of fifty-seven.

Since 1969and later 1981, the Eon production industry approached Dalton to perform the Bond role and he finally accepted the part in 1987 where he enacted The Living Daylights. It was after these that he fondled his preparation for ratifying agent 007. There was a brief consideration for Pierce Brosnan but he seemed too busy with Remington Steele. Dalton proved to be more solid-fringed than his forerunners. Dalton’s Bond was more of a reflection of Fleming’s Bond. In the 1989 movie, License to Kill, Dalton faced many challenges. First of all the shooting of the flick was at Mexico rather than Pinewood Studios. The aim of this move was to cut down on the creation process. The movie veered far off from Fleming’s writing. Upon the proclamation date, the name of the flick changed from License to Kill to License Revoked. Its performance was run-of-the-mill at the cinema halls but the actual glitches emanated from the auction of MGM and United Artists to Pathe Communications (Moore, Roger & Gareth, 88). Danjaq, Eon’s father company, litigated Pathe for dissemination privileges, withholding all Bond fabrications pending 1995. Before he acted in The Property of a Lady in 1994, Dalton decided to refurbish his indenture.

During the seven-year interval, many spectators of the film series wondered what was left of the flick since many of Broccoli’s antagonists belonged to the liquefied Soviet Union.  Albert Broccoli at the age of eighty-six resigned from the production process of the series and Barbara Broccoli, his daughter, replaced him. This called for rejuvenation of the charter. At the shooting area of For Your Eyes Only, Barbara and Michael met Pierce Brosnan and decided to play as Bond. He seemed industrially and artistically shrewd. Since the launch of Moore’s flicks, the Goldeneye had a character called M by Judi Dench, which attracted the highest number of attendants to the cinema (Elhefnawy, 120). Other successful sequels before Brosnan’s retirement in 2004 include Tomorrow Never Dies of 1997, the World is not Enough in 1999 and the 2002 movie Die another Day.

The producers of the James Bond series decided to shift their focus from lassies, artilleries and devices to his enthusiasm. Batman Begins and The Bourne Reality proved to be realistic pieces of work and Barbara wanted to follow that trend. Daniel Craig became the new James Bond in 2005. Some of the audience disliked his blonde hair but they developed love for him because he was a magnificent actor (Duncan, 132).

Casino Royale launched Daniel in the movie market and this marked the beginning of his successful career in 2006. The Quantum of Solace followed closely behind in 2008 but did not amaze the fans as much as the first one did. In 2010, MGM went bankrupt during the creation of the twenty-third Bond series and this made the film adjourned for the near future. Skyfall found itself to the silver screens in 2012 after the diligent works of Craig, Broccoli and Wilson. Sam Mendes directed the piece of work. John Logan later made a comeback in the flick by participating in the writing projects in July 11, 2013. Lea Seydoux was among the cast members as the Bond miss in the movie. Daniel further signed a contract of appearing in two other flicks Spectre, funded by Sony and MGM in 2015 and Bond 25 later.

United Artists exclusively dispersed the finished movies such as For Your Eyes Only in 1981 and Dr. No in 1962. The absorption of the distribution unit into Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1981 gave birth to MGM/UA Entertaining Syndicate. United Artists later retired from mainstream constructions and MGM independently disseminated films between 1997 and 2002. In 2006, Columbia Pictures and MGM co-circulated the motion picture chains after the procurement of MGM by a conglomerate steered by Sony Pictures Company, the mother to the Columbian Company. Unfortunately, MGM ran bankrupt in 2010 resulting from its appearance from liquidation. Danjaq together with Columbia have worked hand in hand in ensuring the creation process is a success.

Far from Eon productions, other invention houses ventured into the nurturing of the spoof. CBS, the American small screen reworking fashioned Casino Royale. Charles K. Feldman and Jack Schwartzman enhanced the Casino Royale caricature and the new version of Thunderball, Never Say Never Again, respectively. In 1954, Ian Fleming received eight thousand, seven hundred and eight –two dollars for privileges to make his Casino Royale book into a boob tube adventure in the CBS network as an omnibus dubbed Climax Mystery Theater. The adaptation of this screenplay was by Charles Bennett, commonly recognized for his alliances with Alfred Hitchcock in series such as Sabotage and The 39 steps, and, Anthony Ellis.

Only two out of the twenty-five films in the Bond series were non-Eon products. The merging of Saltzman and Broccoli in purchasing the privileges of shooting Fleming’s work of fiction gave rise to an unending production series of the amazing book. Later the formation of a holding corporation initiated and it was Danjaq. The creation of this flick proved to be a success as it accumulated gross profits of six billion dollars and a general amassing of wealth worth thirteen point eight billion dollars. Four Academy Awards attributed to the flicks include best sound editing, in Goldfinger during the thirty-seventh awards. At the thirty-eighth awards, Thunderball won an award due to the visual effects through John Stears. Karen Baker Landers and Per Hallberg bagged an accolade for editing sound in Skyfall during the eighty-fifth awards.

The theme song in Skyfall was written and performed by Adele in association with Paul Epworth bagged an honor at the eighty-fifth Awards. Other songs that have won a reward under the same category include “Live and Let Die” by Paul McCartney, “Nobody Does It Better” by Carly Simon and, “For Your Eyes Only” by Sheena Easton. Later in nineteen eighty-two, Albert R. Broccoli acknowledged the Irving G. Thalberg Celebratory Grant.

Of all the flicks, Skyfall brought about the highest returns of three hundred and four million dollars. The British spy in the piece of work represented by Daniel Craig brought along of praises to the un-ageing film series. Guinness World Records described the flick as the most influential, greatest and, profitable film series of all times. The British artwork that started from nineteen sixty two to twenty fifteen was because of a British secret service agent in Her Majesty’s service. Afore, James Bond first appeared in the screens together with Barry Nelson posing as an American 007 Proxy as Jimmy Bond in nineteen fifty four in enacting Casino Royale. The solitary vignette that Fleming made among his pieces of writing is From Russia with Love in the year nineteen sixty-three. Casino Royale and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service are the only perusals that ended tragically for Bond’s quixotic associates ((Moore, Roger & Gareth, 188).

Following the restrictions on sex and violence were elevated at the start of cold war, the smooth, the spy motion pictures fascinated to the substantial viewers with their glamorous, stylish contraptions, travel piece milieus, debauched action uncertainty, patois in impudence absurdity and discourse. The use of aboriginal agates provided by Q Branch to battle villains, foolhardy maneuvers and beautiful skimpily garbed erogenous females was evident in the film. Bond had peculiar tastes in everything he did from his dressing, to his drinks and cars. He mostly drove different BMWs, the Lotus Esprit and particularly the Aston Martin DB5. Bond donned mostly tuxedos and often drank shaken martinis to calm his nerves. James’ dedication to his role was evident in that he diligently fought bizarre, scandalous and lethal felons who assailed the domain (Weiner, Robert, Whitfield, & Jack, 167).
