Dear Walter,
This letter confirms the earlier discussion that we had earlier on about your being laid off from employment with Max and Mina’s effective immediately.
It is very unfortunate that the economic conditions within this industry have caused low sales.
The company made the decision to eliminate all positions within quality department. The employees in the manufacturing department will handle quality functions.
One week’s redundancy pay will be sent to you for every year that you worked for Max and Mina’s. For your case, you will receive the compensation for the nine years that you have worked, which will be nine weeks of redundancy pay at your usual weekly salary. In addition, the company will continue providing health insurance coverage for the time period that the redundancy pay covers.
In addition, you accrued PTO payment will be contained within the final paycheck that you will receive. You will receive this on your usual payday, Thursday. The company will mail you the check to your home or you can also pick it from the company’s reception desk.
You will receive the redundancy pay once you sign and return the release claims document enclosed here.
You should also expect a benefits status letter which will contain an outline status of you benefits after layoff. In the letter, expect to see the continuation of your health coverage with the company and your entitlement to Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).
The company informs you that this layoff is not related to your work performance, you were a dedicated staff.
