In the military, the top level management is vicious, that is, they have a clear idea of how they want to accomplish. They work out that vision through strategic plans. These leaders have the will to take risks, and this is one of the qualities that motivate us, the juniors, in whichever mission we undertake. The supervisors that head our missions are chosen in such a way that they are those individuals with highest integrity so that they can ensure that the strategic plans in place help us in achieving our goals.
Identify the factors responsible for creating organizational culture for transmitting it, and getting it to change.
There are two major factors that contribute to the creation of an organizational culture. The impact of the company founders influences the nature of some individuals. Also, the experience with the external environment brings out some events that contribute in shaping the history of a company (Greenberg, 2013).
Culture in an organization is transmitted through symbols. According to Greenberg 2013, these are material objects whose meanings go beyond that which is perceived by the eye. Culture can also be transmitted by use of slogans. These are phrases that the company uses to call for attention for their services and goods. Transmittal can also be done by use of specialized phrases or words that the members of that organization use to people outside the organization.
Organizational spirituality
Hodge (2001) defined organizational spirituality directly as a relationship with God or anything that is taken to be Ultimate, which promoted a sense of meaning, mission and purpose in life. Piedmont and Leach (2012) defined organizational spirituality as the raw psychological material from which the religious behaviors arise in an organization.
According to Ratnakar and Nair(2012), there is no a single definition of spirituality that is widely accepted. They argue that there are so many definitions such that even the concept of spirituality is becoming obscured due to vagueness.
What role if any does spirituality play in an organization?
Even though the definitions of spirituality vary, most of them stated that it is a process of finding purpose and meaning in the lives of the members of an organization as well as living out the personal beliefs that an individual has set. Krishnakumar and Neck (2002) argued that the multiple opinion of organizational spirituality was something positive to organizations given that the supervisors attempted to understand the different spiritual views and encouraged all of them within an organization.
Discuss the organizational spirituality within your organization.
A large number of my colleagues are spiritual. In fact spirituality is applicable to each and every one of us. This manifests itself in the way we behave amongst ourselves and to the general public. Even though our military work seems to be so much hostile, spirituality makes us to be loving, compassionate and united. It has installed in us the inner drive to be committed to our roles and missions.
